2020 SCHOOL CAPTAINS’ SPEECHES
2020 School Captains’ speeches were held recently with all students
presenting their speeches with confidence and good humour. It has
certainly made our job of selecting captains very difficult!
THANKS FOR EARLY PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES & CONTRIBUTIONS
Earlier this term, Essential Education Items letters were sent home to all parents. On checking with the
office, many payments have already been made which assists the school with budgetary processes in the
new school year. Thank you to those families who have already made payment.
Parents who are experiencing financial hardship are urged to come and make an appointment at the
school office to discretely speak about a payment plan (should an existing plan not be in place already).
UNIFORM
Many of you will need to consider new uniforms for growing children before the start of the next school
year. Most of you would probably need to upgrade your child’s footwear before next year. I kindly
remind you that the shoes must be all black in colour. I also remind you that only uniform items
purchased from our onsite uniform shop are school council approved.
We are very proud and respectful of our uniform here at Templeton; it is well known in the Knox and
outer east community and we ask that parents continue to support the high expectations we have of our
students in ensuring that it is worn correctly at all times.

SCHOOL CAPTAINS 2020
At Final Assembly tomorrow morning at 9.00am, we will announce our 2020 School Captains to the
wider school community. The children went through an extensive process to select the captains. I must
say, I was very impressed with the list of candidates who all would have made excellent captains in their
own right.
At times like this it is appropriate to reflect for a moment that life can be like a roller coaster, we all
have our ups and downs and don’t always get what we want. However, what is most important is how
we respond to the disappointment, bounce back and work towards the next challenge. This is a true
indication of our strength of character and resilience.
This year’s Endeavour Award winner is classic example of this. Ryan told me at the beginning of last
year when I first arrived at Templeton, that he had applied for numerous leadership roles at Templeton
over the years but he had not received one! This year he wins our very prestigious Endeavour Award!
Ryan is a great example of resilience and ‘a never give in’ attitude and I encourage all our students to
follow Ryan’s lead - Well done to all our Grade 5’s who participated in our School Captain process.
GRADE 6 GRADUATION
Monday night was a very special night where we celebrated the achievements of our graduating class
of 2019. They have been a wonderful group of students and we enjoyed sharing their reflections of
their time at Templeton and learning of their aspirations for the future. Thank you to the Grade 6 team
of teachers led by Miss de Rosbo for their efforts in making the night a memorable one for our families.
To those families leaving us this year, some after 12 years, I thank you for your contribution to our
school and we wish all our Grade 6 students all the very best for the future.
