Database

Spreadsheets

an electronic filing system that stores and retrieves information

Databases are similar to a spreadsheet, but when you are doing a database you have to first select what your going to name it, and find a place to put your database in before you start working.

When your using a access, you can:•Add new data to a database•Edit existing data in the database•Delete information•Organize and view the data in different ways•Share the data with others via reports, e-mail messages, an intranet , or the Internet•You can also retrieve information faster than you can with a spreadsheet

•Who can use databases?• Liberians

• Store managers• Teachers• Tax people• Accountants

• Business people • Building industries and many more!

What are the parts of a databaseFORMS: A database table is similar to a spreadsheet because the data is stored in rows and columns. As a result, it is usually quite easy to import a spreadsheet into a database table.

REPORTS: Forms provide an easy-to-use format for working with the data. You can also add command buttons to them. You can program the buttons to determine which data appears on the form, open other forms or reports, or perform a lots of other tasks.

QUERIES: Queries can perform many different functions. Their main common function is to retrieve specific data from the tables. The data you want to see is usually spread across several tables, and queries allow you to view it in a single datasheet. Queries are often as the record source for forms and reports.
