My work is influenced by surrealism, my personal life experiences, emotions, feelings, dreams, and imaginations. Art provides me the opportunity to free my mind and completely bare my soul. My hope is that you will free your mind and feel the vibration through my artwork. I hope my art touches you in a good way.

Durand Seay

Durand Seay utilizes painting and photography in his search for symbols of balance, serenity, spirituality, and how we connect as a people. His photography stretches the bounds of what we consider as the story, allowing the viewer to feel a dialog to be created or added upon. The illuminations remove the image out of its original context placing them as abstractions to guide the viewer’s impressions. These legacies of layers, studies in organic constructions arrive from a pursuit influenced by his architecture and a fascination with structures found in nature or those being man made. He will always ask you, “how does the work make you feel, the emotion evoked?”

The photography may be purchased in multiple sizes, but best as a 32” x 44” Giclee, archival ink print on gallery wrap canvas. They are intended to be printed as large as possible.

My passion as a sculptor involves a technique I uncovered more than 20 years ago — the precise art of creating "virtual records" of contemporary culture — capturing common, everyday items in stone. Essentially, I replicate these items on a real life-scale, complete with meticulous detail. I achieve this absolute realism by incorporating parts of the actual object, as well as custom-made stains, paints, plastics and gold leaf. It's more than art imitating life, it's art mirroring life.
