• Created by Toyota subsidiary, Denso-Wave in 1994.

• Used for tracking parts during vehicle manufacture.

• It was designed to allow for fast decoding speeds, hence the name Quick Response code.

ADVANTAGES OF A QR CODE OVER BAR CODE • A bar code is one dimensional whereas QR codes are two

dimensional. Hence QR codes can hold far more data than bar codes.

• Quiet zone: used to isolate the code from other packaging information.

• Open the QR Code reader on your phone.

• Hold your device over a QR Code so that it’s clearly visible within your smartphone’s screen.
