Recycling at SMS

Why recycle?

The U.S. is one of the largest

producers of trash in the world.

On average, each person in the U.S. produces 1,609

pounds of trash per year.

100 acres of trees are cut every minute, most of which are made into paper we’ll use once and throw

away.

It takes at least 20 years to replace each

of those trees.

For every ton of paper recycled, 17

trees are saved.

Every hour 250,000 plastic

bottles are used.

It takes approximately 700 to

1000 years for a plastic bottle to decompose in a

landfill.

What can be do at SMS to help our

planet?
