Chapter Four: How We Hula

Previously on Reality Bites...

Ben Mirror took heirship, became a plantsim, had four plantbabies – Bluebell, Birch, Ivy and Violet – who were the Quad Pod. They grew up and moved out, so Ben married Meadow Thayer and had two sons, Logan and our bad apple Peter. The Quad Pod topped the slacker career as vampires, and Birch decided he didn't want to be a vampire afterwards. He went on a blind-date and met his three-bolt love, Cara.

Who he is singing with in the above picture, see? :)

If none of this makes sense, I suggest going back and reading the previous chapters :)

We rejoin the Mirrors to find Logan behaving adorably. Bubbles!

Nothing surprising there, at all.

In fact, quite a few members of my OWBC play with bubbles in the road, now that I think about it. Like Opal, last generation.

Also, the whole family is keen on dancing, which is cool. It means random outbreaks of smustling, which I love.

Hmm...group smustle in the road, anyone? Logan looks lonely.

So lonely he turns his back on road dancing and heads home, looking very dramatic...

...well, dramatic if he wasn't a dragon.

The rest of the family are enjoying themselves. Ben and Meadow are hanging out in front of their house, talking about everything and nothing at the same time.

Also, she's pregnant with hopefully the last child of the generation.

While all of that is happening, Edith is reading to our bad apple, Peter.

Of course, the peace is disturbed by some screaming.

Screaming as Meadow brings her daughter into the world.

Which also ruins my name scheme for generation two – see, Logan and Peter were named after Wolverine and Spiderman. If “R” baby was a boy, he would have been named Reed, after Mr Fantastic.

Oh well. Meet Rhapsody, because I was listening to Bohemian Rhapsody at the time.

I adore Ben and Meadow as a couple. :)

The romance is still there after four plantbabies and three kids. Aww. I just realised that Ben is a father of seven, now.

In other news, the fifth and sixth babies of Ben's brood get along pretty well.

They sat down to play together by themselves

Meanwhile, across town, Birch is behaving really sweet with his true love, Cara.

I love them as a couple, too.

“Um, what is she waving at?”

Never you mind, Birch. Never you mind.

Birch continues to prove he has picked up some hula skills from Cara.

I call this picture “Urban Hula” as Birch lives in the centre of town with Cara, hula-dancing the night away with the nightclubs and shops in the back round.

The next day, at the main lot, Peter grows up into a pink wetsuit and duck float. Hmm. My game seems to be favouring outfits from Family Fun Stuff.

Perhaps Rhapsody will grow up into the mermaid outfit, eventually?

Speaking of Rhapsody, she grew into a toddler. She's adorable. And continuing the Mirror tradition of dancing toddlers.

Out of Ben's seven kids, only two of them got his nose, Logan and Rhapsody.

Regardless of whether Edith's nose has carried down to her grandchildren or not, everyone adores Rhapsody.

I can't blame them, she's really sweet and shy.

“You know your life is strange when your husband is talking to trees.”

Pfft. Nothing strange about that. Elijah talked to Jerome the Gnome. Who we still have! Hooray!

Logan and Peter still get along really well. They play cops and robbers quite a lot.

Must be the weirdest game of cops and robbers ever, the cop who was swimming, and a robber who is a dragon.

With all the excitement of law-breaking dragons, Rhapsody's birthday quickly came around.

Edith got to be the lucky one taking her to the cake.

No Family Fun Stuff outfit :(

Rhapsody seems keen to break the trends this generation. Hooray for a sim who challenges tradition.

Even a family with bizarre traditions like this one.

And here is a picture of the three of them.

Logan the oldest, the law-breaking dragon, Peter the tame bad apple and unique, tradition-breaking Rhapsody.

Logan truly gets along with everyone. Plus Rhapsody is really nice, so the two of them are good friends.

Also, I bought playground equipment for the kids, so prepare for some cuteness spam.

Logan plays on the playground the most out of the kids. Edith approves.

Rhapsody uses it too, from time to time.

Only Peter doesn't really use it. He does what he wants, whenever he wants. Which isn't much. Just dancing, really.

On the afternoon of Logan's birthday, Rhapsody takes part in one of the family traditions.

Bubble blowing. :D

But in the blink of an eye, the dragon of the generation is ready to grow up.

-sniff- they grow up so fast!

And so our law-breaking dragon grows up into a pretty cool knowledge sim.

He can keep the leather jacket.

Just in time to hula dance...

“Elijah Mirror, your time has come. The After-Life is waiting.”

“But my flamingos and eight grandchildren!”

“Did I mention there's free access to the pool?”

“I'm in!”

Elijah didn't get to meet Bella, the daughter of Beatrice and Brandon Jones before he died, but he did get to meet the other seven of his grandchildren.

Elijah, you will be missed.

Also, his grave is now guarded by his flamingos. Which I think is cooler than just selling them.

Then, of course, you get the crying as the death of Elijah sinks into the minds of his family.

Although I think Edith is sneakily smiling in this picture.

Ben calls up for some help cheering up his family, and so invites home his only offspring that isn't a vampire.

“Birch, I need your help. Everyone is depressed.”

“I think I know what would be fun.”

“Great. I'm going to go water the plants.”

“Cara,” Birch called, with a smile, “I need your help.”

“Hooray! Hula time!”

Did I mention I adore Birch and Cara?

And so the crazy cheer-up hula lesson begins. Logan struggles at first, trying to compare his moves to Cara's, despite the fact she hulas by nature.

Pretty soon, the idea of hula attracts Rhapsody – she seems keen to learn a dance that isn't the smustle or the slap dance.

After that, everyone picks it up pretty quickly.

The Mirror women can hula up a storm.

I suppose this counts as hula spam, right? Ah well.

See? Logan really, really can't hula dance.

And after the hula lesson, Peter grows up randomly in the doorway.

He grew up pretty handsome and rolled family.

Rhapsody was clearly positively influenced by her hula lesson. I swear she dances all the time.

I think I will make it my mission to make sure Rhapsody learns all of the dances she can.

But everyone is still crying over Elijah. No amount of hula dancing can stop them crying.

Pretty soon, it is time for Rhapsody to grow up and join her siblings in teenagehood.

And I have no idea what Edith is sizing up, for the record.

Rhapsody grew up quite pretty and rolled fortune.

Rhapsody quickly heads out to buy a new outfit, where she meets George McCarthy.

“So I know how to smustle, slapdance, hula...”

“That's pretty cool! I'd love to learn how to dance!”

“Really? You think that's cool?”

“Yeah!”

“Then we HAVE to go dancing sometime!”

And here is where I leave you! With a family hula shot! Well. Minus Peter. And Logan is really not getting this whole hula thing.

Anyway! Join me next time as the Mirrors go abroad, we meet Bella Mirror-Jones, we say goodbye to Edith, and get yet another update from the Quad Pod.

Thanks for reading!
