House plants:A house plant is a plant that is grown indoors in places such as residences & offices, house plants are commonly grown for decorative purposes, positive psychological effects, or health reasons such as indoor air purification.

Janet CraigJanet Craig has been an interior workhouse and one of the most popular plants used indoors for decades, although this Dracaena can reach heights of 15 feet in its native Africa, plants grown for indoor use are much smaller in size.Janet Craig’s benefits:The Janet Craig is one of the best plants for removing trichloroethylene, a solvent for fats, oils & waxes, a cleaning solvent used in dry cleaning operations and machinery maintenance as degreaser.

The history of Janet Craig

The history or beginnings of Janet Craig goes back to the 1930’s , it was named after the daughter of nurseryman Robert Craig, who lived in Philadelphia.

Planting/care•Usually planted with 3 to 5 stalks per pot.•Low water requirement- although allow soil to dry between watering.•This plant can be kept in semi shade and will tolerate dimly light areas, but growth will be slow.•It’s hardy plant that can tolerate neglect.

Some hints and tips about Janet Craig

1- Pruning and Grooming Janet CraigThe leafs over time will collect dust , using a feather duster regularly will help keep foliage clean . Trim brown tops and edge of leafs to a natural contour with scissors.

2_Fertilizing Most dracaenas grown commercially are fluoride sensitiveThe use of fertilizers indoors generally increase the possibility of damage from salts. Fertilizers leave salts behind in the soilRoots pick up the salts moving them to the leafs. These ‘salts’ accumulate in the leaf tops, and over time the salt levels become too high, burning the leaf tissues and leaf margin turn brownGrowers use special fertilizers to grow Dracaenas. I would recommend you do not fertilizers your Dracaenas unless you use the correct fertilizer and understand the plant completely.

3_Pests-Mealybugs, spider mites Janet Craig has relatively few insect pests. Scales, and mealy bugs are occasional problems. Mealy bugs are identified by their white, cottony masses, which may move slowly.If you’re having trouble with insects or pests on Dracaenas and other house plants spend some time to learn how to get rid of there pests.
