• Collection Miles• Data to be Collected

20,000 Directional Miles • Right of Way and

Pavement Images• Interstate, Multi-Lane,

and Divided-Both Directions

15,000 Directional Miles in Secondary Direction

• Right-of-Way Only• Highways With Less

than 4 Lanes

Collection Mileage

Data to be Collected – Pavement Condition Data

For Concrete Surfaces• Transverse Cracks• Longitudinal Cracks• Patching• Blowup• Punchout• Roughness (IRI)• Faulting

For Asphalt Surfaces• Fatigue Cracking• Random Cracking• Patching• Potholes• Rutting• Roughness (IRI)

Random Cracking

• Block cracking

• Transverse cracking

• Reflective cracking on composite pavements

• Longitudinal cracking (non wheel-path)

Data to be Collected – Optional Items

• HPMS pavement data collection cycle to be collected in fall 2009 for 2010 reporting. Approximately 4100 directional miles

• Road surface macro texture for 100% of pavement condition assessment roads.

Deliverables

• Right of Way and Pavement Images• Means To Measure Highway Features from

Images• (9) Network Attached Storage (NAS) Servers• Web-enabled Viewer• Electronic Data • Weekly Deliveries • Reports

Right of Way and Pavement Images

Right of Way Camera(s)

• JPEG format

• Collected at a maximum 26.4-foot intervals

• Contain as much of the left

and right shoulder as possible

Pavement Camera(s)

• Grayscale camera(s)

• Coverage of 12 feet of survey lane

GPS RequirementsSection 2.C.7.c

Means to Measure Highway Features

• Lanes Widths

• Features GPS Coordinates

• Height of Objects

• Sign Measurements

• Asset Inventory

Network Attached Storage

• (9) Network-Attached Storage (NAS) type devices. For use in the delivery of images and data to the LA DOTD districts.

Web-Enabled Viewer

Access the Right-of-Way images and data through an internet/intranet connection

Electronic Data

• Collected using a transverse scanning laser for rutting

• Collect all electronic data at the smallest possible interval

Weekly Deliveries

• Raw Data (Rutting, IRI, Faulting and GPS) • Weekly Calibrations Test Results (DMI,

Rut Measurement Device, Video Foot Print, Electronic Sensor Verification Results)

Reports

• Supporting Documentation • Final Report

Supporting Documentation

Quality Assurance & Quality Control

• DOTD Will Evaluate The Right of Way Images, Pavement Images, and Condition Data Summary

• Failure to Correct The Control Section and Deliver the District(s) Data as Outlined in the Master Schedule Will Subject The Consultant to Damages

• Clearly Describe The Technique Intended to Use to Quantify The Data

• Describe How The Technology Can Be Validated and How It Will Perform on Different Pavement Surface Types

• Propose An Inter-Rater Consistency Testing and Training Plan

• Submit QC Procedures In Final Report

Data Collection Cycle
