DEPARTMENT OF METALLURGICAL AND MATERIALS ENGINEERINGNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY TIRUCHIRAPPALLI.IntroductionStainless steels are widely used in the form of tubes for boiler fabrications. (specially 304, 316L)
A typical boiler consist of a number of dissimilar metal weld joints.
These joints are subjected to high temperature, at which degradation of metal takes place because of hot corrosion.
ObjectiveTo determine hot corrosion effects on dissimilar weld joint of SS-304 and SS-316 welded using TIG welding (Without filler wire, with 304 filler & with 316 filler wire)
Hot corrosion effects on dissimilar weld joint of SS-304L and SS-316 welded using Plasma arc welding.
Comparing results of both the welding processes.Plasma and TIG welding
