Paying Attention

This was an interesting exercise since I know I need to pay more attention. I visited five stores one supermarket, Starbucks, two women’s intimate clothing stores Victoria Secret and Soma, Brookstone and Apple. I noticed different things I have missed before some of them good and some of them no so good.

The Good •The store smells good fruits and flowers •Customer service desk name was changed to Solution Center

The Negative • Store did not draw me in •The store is not inviting is boring • Employees are impolite didn’t engage until the end in the cashier

Starbucks is always inviting: • The floors, the green color of the walls, the low lighting • The smell of coffee, the music • I noticed a strong smell of the “Pumpkin Spice latte”great way to sell a seasonal product •People felt good inside some in their computers, others in groups doing business, others just chilling.

Victoria secret: • Had a big open door, • You could see the letters love Pink • The clothes are more for younger clientele •The place had posters of the most beautiful models •Sales associates were shy when I asked questions •Sales people in their twenties

Soma: •I noticed a small door • More discrete clientele •light white color walls •Clothes’ designs were more directed to mature clientele • The sales people engaged with me instantly •The personnel were in their forties

•Brookstone is a store of electronic gadgets , massage chairs, and other interesting products • focuses on display for customers to have real hands-on shopping experience, being able to try out every product before making a decision. •The personnel were friendly and engaged right away •Great place, to try and buy interesting products.

Apple is one of my favorite stores • It is interesting, always inviting •I noticed the displays of the iphone5 and the MacBook Pro • The place was nice and clean •Apple stores have I think more sales personnel per customer than any other store. •They serve different clientele business ,children, teens, etc. •The only thing I don’t like is that sometimes is too crowded.

Thank you
