GUIDE TO USE THIS BOOK This field guide contains images of 320 species (49 families) of marine fishes, 11 species (5 families) of sharks, 12 species (3 families) of rays, 5 species (1 family) of crab and 14 species (2 families) marine prawn, 4 species (2 family) lobsters and 3 species (3 families) squid/cuttlefish/octopus. Each species is represented by at least one image. To identify a spesies, refer to picture and make comparison. Local names for fishes are listed in CONTENTS (page i-iv) arranged in alphabetical order whereas images of fishes (page 1-39) is arranged following Standard International Trade Classification, Revision 4 (S.I.T.C Rev.4). Local Names for fishes are used for easy identification when at landing sites and fish market in Malaysia. Local names, Family, Valid Local Name, Scientific Name and English Names for each fish are as below:
