National Fire Protection Standard (NFPA) 1600

� 1991 – Disaster Management Committee established

� 1995 – “Recommended Practice” issued� 2000 – “Standard” issued◦ Approved as an “American National Standard”� “American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

approval”

� 2004 – Edition of NFPA 1600◦ Through ANSI, vetted with over 2,000 organizations� Recommends NFPA 1600

� 2007 is the latest edition� 2010 edition is under development◦ Will use ISO procedures
