Where did the Bible come from?
How should we interpret it?
What is the best way to describe its role in our theology?
The most popular book in the
world can also be one of the
most confusing. Christians of
good faith continue to be
divided over a number of
issues, but most often the
debate isn’t ultimately
about the issue itself, but about how we understand the nature
of scripture.
Based on Adam Hamilton’s book, Making Sense of the Bible is
our summer study on Wednesday nights, starting June 21
at 6 p.m. in Ensminger Hall.
You can sign up in the church office if you’d like to order a hard
copy of the book. For more information or any questions, email
Will at wshelton@keithumc.org.

Keith Youth Feeling Down?
Our Stephen Ministry can help. Stephen Ministers
aren’t just there for “big” crises. They’re also
available for the little ones, because many times
the little things can really add up. So don’t wait
until you have a really big crisis; consider Stephen Ministry if
the little things have you feeling down.
If you are seeking someone who will listen and know you can
trust or know someone who is and would like more
information on our Stephen Ministry and the encouragement
we might provide to you or someone you know, please
contact Pastor Dave at dgraybeal@keithumc.org or 745-2612.
STEPHEN MINISTRY
Keith Memorial UMC seeks a part-time (20 hours/week) Director of Children’s Ministries to coordinate a dynamic and comprehensive children’s ministry program. Potential candidates should be enthusiastic, creative, and resourceful, with the ability to relate well with children from all backgrounds. Experience and a desire to partner with parents and volunteers to reach out to and engage children from infancy through fifth grade in the Christian faith and life of the church are required. Email dgraybeal@keithumc.org to request more information or a complete job description, and to submit a resume.
SEEKING: DIRECTOR OF
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
Entry forms for the annual Father’s Day Booklet,
a Keith Youth fundraiser, are due to the church
office no later than Monday, June 12.
Service Opportunities
►If you are looking for a rewarding project, Nourish One
Child has volunteer opportunities for you!
Sign up to pack the food bags for the children who receive
food as a part of the NOC ministry. This takes about an
hour on a Wednesday afternoon or evening.
Volunteers are also needed to serve as food delivery
drivers, which includes picking up carts of food bags from
the church and dropping them off at the school every
Thursday or Friday morning.
Here’s how to volunteer:
To pack bags, call Connie Vincent at (731) 697-8119 or
Carolyn Grimmett at (423) 745-7333, and to serve as a
delivery driver, call Myra Patterson at (423) 462-4677.
►The YMCA is looking for volunteers to help with their
summer feeding program: from packing food, to delivery
and supervision while the children eat at their delivery sites.
Keith Church is organizing volunteers to assist with these
needs the week of June 19 - 23. For specific times and
more information or to volunteer, contact Harrison Hart at
(423) 745-2612 or hhart@keithumc.org.
If you are interested in being a part of the
Shepherding Ministry by serving as a shepherd for
members of the Keith Church congregation, please
call the church office at 745 - 2612. This ministry
tends to the members of our congregation, or sheep,
through daily prayer and regular communication.
There will be a short meeting in August (date and time TBA)
to answer any questions you may have and to assign your
flock (four to five sheep).

) ( ______ THANK YOU
Thank you for coordinating the April 19, 2017, blood drive. We
were very pleased with the drive overall, and the willingness
of the donors to share this life saving gift.
The efforts of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church have
always been greatly appreciated and their support of the
community blood program will go a long way toward
replenishing blood supplies and ultimately saving lives.
We appreciate your efforts during this crucial time. You may
be interested to know that 35 units were collected at your
drive.
Again, thank you for your contribution and ongoing support of
this important community program. I look forward to working
with you again on an upcoming blood drive.

INGRAM AND LUTTRELL RECEIVE
DANA HIGGINS SCHOLARSHIP Congratulations to Baylor Ingram and Anna
Luttrell, both 2017 graduates of McMinn
County High School, for receiving the Dana
Higgins Scholarship. The scholarship is given
each year to deserving high school seniors
who have been active members of Keith
Church in honor of the Higgins family. Ken
and Dana Higgins were life-long supporters of
continuing education, and members of the
Circle believe this is a way to keep their
memory alive. This year’s scholarship
recipients were announced Sunday, May 21,
which was Dana Higgins’ birthday, during a
combined service in The Gathering.
