1. Statement of Acknowledgement
The Chairperson read the statement of acknowledgement: We would liketo acknowledge this land that we meet on today is the traditional lands for theKaurna people and that we respect their spiritual relationship with theircountry. We also acknowledge the Kaurna people as the custodians of thegreater Adelaide region and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still asimportant to the living Kaurna people today.

That the Gawler Heritage Collection Committee recommends to Councilthat the Gawler Heritage Collection is relocated and stored as detailed inthis report, including transit and secure offsite storage for large artworkand significant items to the total cost of $5000 for 12 months (includingamendments for item 13 in the Officer’s Report).

Services/Heritage Collection/Cultural Heritage Gallery as part ofGawler Connect future planning and management.
2. The Committee requests further information from Maz McGann andDenise Schumann on a process for the Gawler Heritage CollectionCommittee to be in a position to advise Council on how CulturalHeritage will fit into Council’s future management.
3. Given that the Gawler Heritage Collection Committee have onlyreceived this information today, the Committee requests Council toprovide time for the Committee to further consider these issues.
4. The Gawler Heritage Collection Committee propose to meet prior toCouncil’s 20 December meeting to review the information available inthe next 2 weeks or so.

1. With input from the Gawler Heritage Consultant & staff review andupdate the accession and deaccessioning policies as it relates toHeritage Collection to be brought back to this Committee for review.
2. Staff Contact the Gawler Masonic Lodge and accept the donation of theJames Martin portrait pending point (a) having been resolved.
3. The James Martin portrait be further assessed for restoration by anindependent assessor.
4. The matter be discussed at a future Gawler Heritage CollectionCommittee meeting.
