Get to know the market

Last year was a record late start for the Ardmore farmer’s market at Market Place on Broadway, until this year. The market doesn’t officially open until the beginning of July and with the June flooding, many vendors have been unable to bring produce to the market, resulting in a lack of growers. The market is planning their “grand opening” for July 11. However, some growers are now selling at the market on Wednesdays and Satur-days. KATI WALKER/THE ARDMOREITE

Longton Family Farms was the only vendor at the market with squash June 24 at the Market Place on Broadway. Susan Longton said they usually have corn and more tomatoes but due to the rain they won’t be replanting this late in the season. KATI WALKER/THE ARDMOREITE

Woodruff Farms had plenty of tomatoes, onions and plums June 24 at the Market Place on Broadway. They plan to be at “full abundance” by mid-July. KATI WALKER/THE ARDMOREITE
