Institution being simulated: United Nations

What is the United Nations?

International organization whose goals are to facilitate international law, security, economic development, social progress, human rights and world peace

Cannot make laws, can only draft agreements for the international community

What is your role?Global Classrooms conference is a

simulation conference, held in Madrid, that is just like the real United Nations

Students, in pairs, represent various countries

Everyone debates 2 different topics

A Few ExamplesFor the purposes of this

conference, Eva is not Eva. Eva could be Portugal or Syria or South Africa.

Very important: Eva does not represent Spain!

In this conference, let’s pretend Eva represents South Africa.

Let’s also pretend the topic of the conference is violence against women.

The purpose of the conference is to create an international agreement (or resolution) about violence against women for all countries.
