One of the recent modifications of distance education
“distributed learning”
Its distinguishing features are:
- integration of distance and traditional forms of education;
- more active involvement of the students into the process of knowledge acquisition
To achieve considerable increase in the proportion of self-access work of students
In the convenient place – at the convenient time
Considerable decreaseof classroom lecture load of both instructors and the students
Providing more time for methodological efforts of the instructors aimed at designing and updating “hybrid” multimedia teaching materials
Facilitating an individual approach to the instruction through
- individual counseling;- seminars;- individual supervision by the lecturer of the research work of the students.
Retaining traditional face-to-face final knowledge assessment procedures
Distributed learning is a realistic means of changing the existing educational paradigm

(Zeitschrift fur positive Psychoterapie? 1980, S.42f.) .
