Financial Need

Financial Need $22,964 (COA)- $7,000 (EFC)

$15,964 (Need)

The government will give you an EFC based on your household income. Your EFC is how the school will decide what aid you are eligible for.

FEDERAL STUDENT AID

Grants – Pell Grant Need based awards that are free.

Loans – Federal Student Loans Federal student loans generally have a lower

interest rate than a private loan through a bank or credit union.

Federal Work Study A need based program offering jobs on campus.

Your payment can go straight to tuition or you can receive a check or direct deposit.

OTHER STUDENT AID

January 1 – April 1The FAFSA is available from January 1st

through April 1st. The state starts dividing up the money after April 1st.

Many universities have a deadline of March 1st. Be sure to check with the school you have applied to.

TAXESIf you cannot complete your taxes by these deadlines, you can file your FAFSA with an

estimation from your W2 or last year’s tax return, then correct your FAFSA after filing.
