Loans – Federal Student Loans Federal student loans generally have a lower

interest rate than a private loan through a bank or credit union.

DEADLINES

January 1 – April 1The FAFSA is available from January 1st

through April 1st. The state starts dividing up the money after April 1st.

March 1MIZZOU, MISSOURI STATE, SEMO, MISSOURI WESTERN, UMKC, UMSL, UCM, WILLIAM WOODS

Many universities have a deadline of March 1st. Be sure to check with the school you have applied to.

TAXESIf you cannot complete your taxes by these deadlines, you can file your FAFSA with an

estimation from your W2 or last year’s tax return, then correct your FAFSA after filing.
