Culture Deck

What’s culture?

Why do we care?

Culture happens

Code

Mission and Metrics

Obsess over customers,

Autonomy

Help first,

We are people,

Transparency.

We are unreasonably picky about our peers

Solve

For every decision,

So do we just give stuff away for free?

No.To help customers long term,we need to survive short-term. Because…

Bankrupt companies don’t help anyone.

Does hitting sales goals help long-term?

Educate

We share (almost) everything.

Everyone is accessible.

There’s no dress code.

One screw-updoesn’t warrant a policy.Just because someone made a mistake a while ago doesn’t mean everyone should suffer for it. It doesn’t call for a new policy. We only protect against the big stuff. We don’t penalize the many for the mistakes of a few.

No procedural policy

What’s Good Judgment?

Expense, Travel, and Gift policy?

Best interest being:

Results > Hours

Data > Job Title

Speaking of job titles…

We have traditional titles.

What makes someone a great fit at Cuber?

5 things, basically.

1. Humble

2. Effective

3. Adaptable

4. Remarkable

5. Transparent

We want people with heart. That’s a bit cheesy, yeah.We want those who will help us create a company we love. Those with the courage to take risks, a leap of faith. We like to recruit and reward such people.

We bet on people,

Brilliant jerks?

So only those with all 5 qualities get accepted?

Don’t hire to delegate.

We invest in people

We constantly questionthe status quo. We’d rather fail frequently than never try something new.If something is broken, we start working on finding a better solution. If something can be done more efficiently, we work on making it a reality.

Modest risks never give remarkable outcomes.Generally, people tend to avoid risks. As an entrepreneur I know that risk can be addictive. More than anything, I’ve learnt that the bigger the risk is, the more stunning the result is. Small risks never give jaw-dropping outcomes.

Why care so muchabout being different? As startups, each company is generally unique. As time passes, most get gradually pulled towards mediocrity. And mediocre fails. It’s that simple.

Simplicity is an advantage. We believe simplicity is a competitive advantage. You cannot add simplicity in. Take complexity out.

Refactor

We want to be

But our culture is not perfect.

Conflict of interest

Transparency, not democracy.

Better imperfectthan perfectly average.
