SALSA Reading List

S.A.L.S.A. is an acronym for "Spanish Award-winning Literature Seminar for All" - a professional development workshop session geared towards showcasing new Spanish language titles appropriate for school library and classroom collections, grades PreK-8. Fiction and informational books are selected, representing high standards of writing and illustrations that are best suited to meet grade level curriculum demands, as well as student interests. The S.A.L.S.A. list is updated biennially by the CPS Libraries Team. Access at:

Diversity Reading List

The Diversity Recommended Reading List is a biennial list, created by the Department of Literacy: Libraries team, that reflects a range of diversity including socioeconomic, cultural, gender, sexual orientation, physical and mental abilities and challenges, race, language and learning styles. Understanding and respecting values and perspectives of all people helps to enhance learning experiences in Chicago Public Schools. Books provide a valuable pathway to explore and embrace diversity by helping students see themselves reflected in the pages of books, while learning to understand and respect the experiences and feelings of others.
