Transcript of Content strategy-for-the-web-slides

We develop web sites and apps for units within the NCSU College of Engineering

& we want to share our experience

creating and delivering content to those

sites with you.

Client: Hey do you have the new design ready yet?

You: I thought we agreed to wait until you had the content ready?

Client: Yeah, … I know but everyone is just so anxious to see the new site.

You: …

Client: I was hoping maybe you could just give me a copy of the skin … with maybe some dummy text for now so we can get everyone’s approval. I can tell them we’re still working on the content.

You: I’m not sure that’s a great idea. What if we don’t have enough content to fill out the design later?

Client: Well we can worry about it when we get there

•No shortcuts

•Can't buy it, can't outsource it.

•Users and colleagues won't magically produce it, no matter how many tools they have.
