A recent study asked men to look at 6 photos. Each photo featured one woman, wearing a different colored shirt. Then researchers asked women to do the same with photos of one man wearing different shirts. None of the participants realized that the photos were of the same person.

Men thought women wearing red were more physically attractive. They didn’t think the women in red were more kind, intelligent or likeable—it was all about physical beauty.

Women thought men wearing red were more physically attractive, too.They also thought those men were smarter and probably more wealthy.

Men looking at photos of men wearing red were not impressed—color didn’t influence their opinions of the men at all. Similarly, women looking at photos of other women wearing red also didn’t have a difference of opinion in comparison to women dressed in other colors.
