joyed by over 350 personsand to such an extent thatthe management committeevoted in favour of ap-
proaching the Committeeof the Memorial Club againthis year It is hoped anight can be made avail-able to us in late August.
BITS andPIECES
There is a noticeablefalling off of the numberof players once they be-come teenagers.
What is the reason?Do they make an effort
to keep the interest of theteenage player?
Clubs! Please write inyour views on the problem.

At last the A/A playersare awakening from theirinertia and organisingteams. If they had donethis when requested by theM/C, and had not tried todictate to the ManagementCommittee whether thereshould or should not be anunder 21 grade compe-tition, much time woulcnot have been wasted ancthe soccer imaee would no1have been made ridiculousby certain public rantings
C.C.U. CLUBThe trial match on Sun
day, 21/4/68. againsMerewether provided theteam's first defeat in thetrial series.
Four of their regulaplayers had to work anctwo joined the team at hal:time. Nevertheless, the finaresult of 5-3 against theC.C.U. by possibly the besteam in the Third Divisiorreflected a creditable efforon their part.
The reserve team drew1-all.
In its first competitionmatch, on 28/4/68 bothteams beat Newcastle |Technical College; the re-jserve team 5-1 and thefirst team 11-1.

continues nt a-asi Gosford has 9 cadet referees, Etta-
Y Narara-Wvoming 3, and Narara-Wyommg has 6trained referees and Gofford 1. It is interesting to note,that one ex-soccer player now a league player is a cadet j
ii every club followed the example of these clubs theproblem of having no referee at the ground would end
An important by-product of this move is the interestin the code of the older youngsters is intensified.
The cadet referees will be appointed to games by theAppointment Board and may referee games up to and in-cluding their own age grade.
Clubs which are outspoken against referees shouldshow they can act as well as rant, and sponsor some can-didate at the next referees school.
COACHINGA meeting of soccer coaches is to be held on Monday
night 26/8 '68 at 8 p.m. in the upstairs lounge of the C.C.Leagues Club. Non-members will be signed in.
It is most desirable that the technical side of soccer, that of coaching the players, is not neglected on the Coast.Qualified and experienced coaches should make some oJtheir time available to promote coaching techniques andsay for example produce a training manual to act as aguide for clubs in the Association.
Parents, just as the education of young people requirestrained teachers, so does the coaching of young playersrequire trained coaches. Why not spare a little of your timeto take the basic course for soccer coaches? Contact RoyLyne, Gosford 23337 for details.

The Ball was attended by over 400 persons whoonce again (and putting it mildly) had a most enjoy- <able night. The Rovers entertained by first class har-mony and stirring the club groups to friendly vocalcompetition.
It must have been a good night — for Brisbaniaforfeited its matches the next day.

Saw Gosford there this year and also Jim Fal-coner and Bill Smith from The Entrance; good tosee you there men!
Budgewoi turned out in force and made a deter-mined effort to "show the light".

Sorry to hear the two candidates from Budgewoiat the referees' school "changed their minds" afterthe first attendance. How about another go!
;; "* •!It has come to the attention of the M/C that;rs dying on the field have been neglecting to falli This is against the rules and makes it impos-
SLUIC for referees to distinguish between death andnatural movements of players. Any players foundpractising this deception will be drafted from theteams.

IENTRAI, COAST UNITED CLUBThe Northern Federation has admitted the Club into
the Second Division. Congratulations to the hard workingCommittee on this achievement
Even more staggering is that it may be possible toadmit the club into the First Division.
Less than one year ago three of the C.C.S.A. Commit-tee debated with five interested persons; Andy Permcher,Bill Ridly, Gerry Reeman to name some, on the mentsof continuing with the 3rd Division teams to the possibledetriment to A/A soccer. After a couple of hours agrement was reached and those present stated they wereprepared to form a club and perservere with the rfraDivision teams. The result is a credit to the Clubs Com-mittee and to the grit and determination of the Coastsalayers.
