11 February 2021 Term 1 – Week 3 (A)
BATLOW TECHNOLOGY SCHOOL
KINDERGARTEN
2021
Welcome
to
Batlow Technology School
Welcome back to Term 1, 2021.
Students have started the year with great enthusiasm and many stories of the holidays to share. It always
takes a few days for everyone to settle back into the routine, get out of bed in time to make it to school and
re-engage with their friends and teachers.
It has been exciting welcoming our Kindergarten students who have joined us for their school journey. They
have completed the first whole school week and have made many friends, have been engaging in learning
and other activities with great determination and eagerness.
Year 7 have made a seamless transition into high school and have enjoyed the variety of subjects and
teachers they engage with throughout the school day.
This term is shaping up to be very busy, swimming carnival, Sculpture by the Sea, dental visits, career
discussions, police visits, primary swimming lessons, immunisations and Wellbeing days. Please check
your child’s school bag, our Facebook page, school website and Skoolbag for information, notes and other
correspondence essential for the smooth running of the school year.
I have included a collage of learning that has been completed by students this week, students are proud of
their learning and quite often read me stories and show me creative art completed in class.
If there are any questions or concerns please ring the school office and the SASS staff will direct your
query to the appropriate staff member. Stay well and enjoy the beautiful weather at this time of year.

SCHOOL NEWS
KINDERGARTEN/YEAR 1 NEWS
Welcome back from holidays, Year 1, and a warm welcome to all of our new Kindergarten students! We
have had a wonderful start to the year.
In Mathematics, Kindergarten students are learning to count to five by using counters, tracing numbers,
playing TEN games, threading and working in small groups with the teacher. Year 1 are learning to read,
order and represent 2-digit numbers and have enjoyed using MAB blocks and working as a team to play
addition games.
In our Literacy sessions, students have begun to develop independent learning habits and have worked on
phonics, name writing and early reading and writing. Students love learning through both hands-on
activities and written work.
Other activities include creating self-portraits in art, learning to use the iPads and learning about families in
History.
Students enjoyed their first library lesson for the year, with all students choosing to either read by
themselves, with the teacher or in a small group.
