BRIEF HISTORY

Bagh -e- Jinnah, is one of the most beautiful gardens in Pakistan due to its botanical diversity and systematic design. It covers a land area of 141 acres

(0.57 square kilometer).

Its historical importance dates back to the time of British rule in India. It was formerly known as Lawrence Garden, named after the Viceroy of India John Lawrence,1864-69,

who built this garden during his era.

It was originally built as botanical garden and was modeled on Kew Gardens in England. The Royal Botanic

Gardens, usually referred to as Kew Gardens, comprised hectares of gardens and botanical glasshouses between

Richmond and southwest London, England.

FACILITIES & AMUSEMENTS

The bagh hosts a famous cricket ground since 1885, known as Gymkhana Cricket Ground

The bagh provides Tennis Courts for tennis lovers It houses two libraries, Quaid-e-Azam library and

Darussalam library. Quaid-e-Azam library is one of the largest reference libraries in Pakistan.

A Walking-track A beautiful mosque An open-air theatre and a restaurant A Play ground for children The bagh has the honor of holding Gul-e-Daudi exhibition

on annual basis The bagh has 150 varieties of trees, 140 types of shrubs,

50 types of creepers, 30 kinds of palms, almost 100 succulent plants and a large variety of flowers
