The idea is for the MESC to become an alternative to the tourism currently offered by the island, and making it possible to rethink how to occupy the Mediterranean coast.

The proposal seeks, with minimal inter-vention, to extend the possibilities of the coast while extolling the sublime beauty of the place and the vernacular architec-ture of the “varaderos”, which reveals the history and tradition of IbizaThis project consists of a series of pieces inspired by the port docks that, as large sculptures play with the landscape and complement it. This produces the contrast between the geometric and accessible structure and the complex character and abrupt surfa-ce of the nature elements.

This is a refurbishment project of a buil-ding from 1960 that used to be a factory on the ground floor and apartments for the workers on the upper floors. The brief includes the management of a new activity for the factory space and the management of a new habitation model for the new cohabitation units (families, young couples, old people, students...).All these goals must be accomplished without leaving out the improvement ofthe technical conditions of the building.

The objective is to find simple solutions by fixing the main weaknesses of the building with a single operation.The main intervention consists on the elimination of the current staircases and putting the new ones at the south facade. This way the entrance to the apartments change and a new neighborhood rela-tionship space arises at the same time the sunlight problems of the south faca-de are solved by the shadow projected by the new structure.On the ground floor a double-height room that visually connects the patio an the street is generated. In this space different workshops and activities for the neighbours will take place.
