Unit 5 Happy and SadKey Questions; ‘How is the?’ etcKey response pupil says; ‘The boy is sad’ etc.

Adjectives; happy, sad.Nouns; man, woman, boy, girl.The four word sentence; ‘The… is…’Activities;Say the words: Mime the feeling happy/sad. Draw a line with your finger on your face to show a big smile. Draw a finger line for sad. Ask pupil to show happy and sad as a mime. Point to the pictures on 4.3 and say ‘happy, sad, man, woman, etc’. Ask the pupil to repeat each time.

• Say a sentence: Ask pupils to lay out the cards in front of them. Use the book to say the sentence… ‘The girl is happy’ etc. Ask pupils to pick up the correct card and repeat… ‘The girl is happy’ etc. Repeat for all the cards, until pupils have learned the new sentences.• Play the barrier game. Call out ‘The girl is sad’ etc, and draw a sad mouth on the girl. Ask the pupils to do the same. Practise until they have the idea.• The barrier game; work in pairs. Ask pupils to check each other. One pupil can call; ‘The girl is happy’ etc., while both draw the mouth behind the barrier.Key expectations;

· That pupils say a sentence with ‘happy’ and ‘sad’ in it.
