WELLINGTON: US intelli-gence leaker EdwardSnowden may have moredirt on a New Zealand spyagency to reveal, but PrimeMinister John Key is refus-ing to say what briefings he’shad about potential leaks.

Spy links between theUnited States and its ‘‘FiveEyes’’ intelligence-sharingpartners — New Zealand,Australia, Canada and theUK — are among the latestrevelations from Snowden, who is on the run from USauthorities after revealingdetails of the US National Se-curity Agency’s Prism spyprogram to media.

He gave Brazilian news-paper O Globo a map show-ing collection points for theNSA’s ‘‘X-Keyscore’’ pro-gram — including the NZGovernment Communicat-ions Security Bureau’s(GCSB’s) Waihopai base andfour Australian sites.

X-Keyscore is understoodto process signals dealingwith video, voice calls andonline communications.

Snowden says the NSA’spartners do full dragnet col-lection for calls, texts anddata, but how much they getdepends on the capability ofindividual collection sites, offering Britain’s GCHQ asone of the most extensivedata collectors.

Mr Key has refused to saywhether he’s been briefed onwhat information Snowdenmight have, but says he has‘‘a sense’’ of what could beout there.

‘‘I’m aware that (he’s) exfil-trated a whole lot of inform-ation and I’m aware of whereNew Zealand shares inform-ation,’’ Mr Key said.

He would not comment onwhat X-Keyscore is, but re-iterated that the GCSB didnot use its partners’ surveil-lance capabilities to floutlaws banning it from spyingon New Zealanders.

The two teenage victims of the Asiana airline crash are mourned at a gathering in Jiangshancity in China on Monday. The two girls were classmates named Ye Mengyuan andWang Linjia, who were killed when the plane crashed while trying to land in San Francisco
