ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?Canada Post’s Aboriginal Education Incentive Awards celebrate the hard work and determination of individuals of Aboriginal heritage who have embraced a renewed pursuit of learning. The awards are open to all Aboriginal Canadians who have been out of school for one year or more, who have since decided to return to an educational system, and who have now been back at school for at least one year. The Canada Post Aboriginal Education Incentive Awards are granted annually to select applicants from across the country, and recipients are awarded $1,000 in recognition of their efforts.
YOU ARE ELIGIBLE IF…1. You are an Aboriginal Canadian (member of a First Nation, Métis, or Inuit),2. You have been out of school for one year or more, 3. You returned to school and have recently completed one year of studies (between January 2014 and August 2015), and4. You have never received this award in the past (previous award recipients are not eligible).
HOW TO APPLY:1. Write an essay which details your efforts to get an education. Be sure to include any challenges you have faced in order to pursue your education, why you were out of school for one year (or more), and what life was like during that time. Your essay should also include the reason(s) you decided to return to school, any extraordinary challenges you might now be facing, and how you’re dealing with those challenges. Tell us how your life has changed since you’ve returned to school and what your next steps will be. Your essay should be typed, double-spaced on letter-sized stationery, and no more than five pages long.
2. Complete an application form and return it by August 31, 2015. Be sure to include: • Your essay, • School transcripts or school letter confirming you’ve completed one year of studies between January 2014 and August 2015 (photocopy is acceptable), and • A clear photocopy of your membership card or an official letter from a community member confirming that you are an Aboriginal Canadian.

Are there any extraordinary challenges this time around and, if so, how are you dealing with those challenges? How has your life changed since you returned to school, and what are your next steps? 2015-2016 Post Secondary Funding Applications Are NOW Available Are you planning on attending College or University in the 2015/2016 school year? If so, you will have to apply for funding from Fort William First Nation. This is required for each and every year you plan on attending a Post Secondary Institution (even if you are a returning student). Downloadable applications are available at www.fwfn.com, or a hard copy can be picked up at the Band Office. Deadline for application is May 29, 2015. Please ensure you include cost for the full year. Any unexpected cost will not get budgeted for, and may not be covered. Make sure you fill in the application completely. Transcripts Please submit your end of year transcripts as soon as possible. Post Secondary Graduates If you are graduating this year from a Post Secondary Institution please contact Myra Bannon at 623-9543 extension 225. I will require a copy of your diploma. Graduates may receive a bursary (if you have never received one before).

During construction of Mission Road, the transfer area will be moved to the FWFN RINK for safety reasons.
School buses will arrive at the transfer area at 8:00am and will leave at 8:10am.
