OPERATING PRINCIPLE
Especially in air conditions, cold water systems, solar systems etc. a special medium mixture is
used whereby a simple refill of fresh water is not possible. Multicontrol autofill solo -S forMCA
automatic, amount controlled make-up of special media offers the possibility to refill a certain
amount media mixture out of a storage tank is required.
We recommend our multicontrol -G vessels as storage tanks, but they don‘t have to beMCA
used compulsively. On site already existing vessels can possibly be used as storage tanks,
because the needed vessel connection unit is always included in scope of delivery of the
control unit multicontrol autofill -S. With it the necessary level measurement in theMCA
storage tank as well as a permanent temperature measurement in the stored medium is
realised.
It is distinguished between the following operating modes:
� ”contact controlled” operation:
Thereby control of the -S for example is carried out by a multicotrol pressureMCA
maintenance device. If the level within the pressure less expansion vessel falls below a certain
minimum level an electric contact will request make-up. The make-up pump (M1) supplies
ready mixed system medium out of the storage tank (e.g. -G) to the expansion vessel asMCA
long as it is refilled up to a preset level.
On demand there is the possibility to supply several multicontrol pressure maintenance
devices with make-up medium by one multicontrol autofil device. Thereto a make-up module
is installed in every supplying pressure maintenance device and via a contact each of these
devices can request make-up from the -S.MCA
� ”pressure controlled” operation:
Pressure controlled make-up takes place into the closed system directly. The system pressure
is hold constant by a membrane expansion vessel ( ), nevertheless it can fall by possibleMAG
leaks. Assumed that the proper function of the is given, make-up can be necessary.MAG
Therefore the vessel pressure transmitter (P1) registers the actual pressure in the system and
compares it with the adjusted set point. Decreases the pressure below the set value the make-
up pump (M1) starts. It pumps medium from the storage tank directly into the system. As soon
as the set pressure is reached, the make-up pump (M1) stops.
The make-up amout is recorded by a water meter (Q1) and compared with the maximum
adjusted make-up amount. Is this amount exceeded the make-up stops and the make-up
operation is locked. Only after verification and disengaging by the system support engineers,
make-up can be activated again. Beside the amount controlled operating mode also a time
controlled operating mode is available, which is advantageous in case of known and regular
necessary make-up amounts.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE DETAILS/
Within the storage tank ( -G) a vessel pressure transmitter (Pl1u) for level measurement isMCA
arranged. Level measurement bases on pressure measurement of the medium in the storage
tank. Out of it the filling height (=vessel level) is determined (also not by weight measurement
of load cells at the vessel).
By undercutting a certain minimum vessel level make-up stops to protect the make-up pump
(M1) from running dry. Not before the storage tank ( -G) is filled again further make-up canMCA
take place.
The storage tank is operated as open vessel to avoid negative pressure or overpressure. All
connections are mounted on site, which implicates high flexibility because connection
positions at the storage tank can be adapted to local conditions.
Circulation function
A circulation function is also included and after proper piping to the storage tank it can be
activated in the settings. It offers the possibility to mix longer stored medium to antagonise
settling out different media components at the storage tank bottom.
Therefore in the working hydraulics an electromotive activated switch mixer (Y5) is built in
already. To start the circulation functon it is activated by the electronic control, either in
periodic intervals of directly before any make-up for an adjustment time, depending on the
requirements of our costumer. For this purpose the switch mixer (Y5) is carried out as three way
mixing valve that is adjusted in position ”make-up” by default and moves to position
”circulating” during the circulation process. Thereupon the make-up pump (M1) is activated
and circulates the medium via the switch mixer (Y5) from the tank connection unit back to the
storage tank. Though all parts of the medium are well mixed again and afterwards make-up
can take place.
Medium recirculation
For safety of financial reasons it can additionally be necessary to prevent a leakage of the
particular system medium (e.g. via safety valves,...) and collect it again. For this purpose at the
storage tank -G a connection for a collecting pipe for media recirculation is provided.MCA
