Task OutlineAs you complete this assessment task you will be demonstrating your skills and knowledge to your assessor. The assessor may also observe your practical skills and techniques and ask you questions. Ensure in your work practices that you work safely and efficiently, check that equipment is ready for use and work with others to improve work practices.
The assessment task is comprised of two Parts; Part A and Part B.
Part A consists of a series of questions which require you to formulate a written response.
The information to answer the questions can be obtained from the various texts and web
sites referred to in the question sheets.
Part B is the manufacturing of the Bench Vice (drawing supplied) or project nominated by
your teacher. This task requires you to interpret information, move materials safely within the
workshop and use workshop machinery safely and efficiently.
PART A: Written ResponseAnswer all the questions included in Task 1, referring to various texts and websites.
PART B: ManufactureEach student is required to manufacture the project in accordance with the specifications on
the drawing supplied.
Steps:
1. Interpret the drawing and prepare a Work Method Statement for manufacturing the
project.
2. Prepare a cutting list and select the appropriate material.
3. Using correct materials handling techniques to move and relocate equipment and
materials.
4. Select the appropriate machine and set up the correct tooling in accordance with the
SOP
5. Correctly operate the machinery to produce the components to meet the work
requirements and Predetermined finishes
6. Assemble all the components and inspect the final product to ensure that it functions
correctly and meets the specifications
