Welcome to the 2015 WUN Conference & AGM! This year you will notice that we have decided on a much more compact delegate information booklet.
Feedback we received from delegates in previous years indicated that the conference delegate binder was too bulky and was usually thrown away at the end of the conference. In our bid to conserve both the environment and our members’ subscriptions, we are going with a simpler approach. This delegate information booklet contains the essential information to guide your conference experience. The program-at-a-glance tells you what’s on each day in an easy colour-coded view. More detailed information and programs for each meeting can be found online at the WUN website (www.wun.ac.uk). Business meeting agendas and papers have been emailed to delegates attending those meetings in advance. Alongside this printed booklet, all the information you need can be found at your fingertips electronically using your tablet or smartphone. Free wi-fi is available to all delegates throughout the Hyatt Regency Sha Tin and the CUHK campus so you should have no problems connecting. Should you require any assistance throughout the course of the WUN Conference & AGM 2015, please visit the conference registration desk located at Level 2 of the Cheng Yu Tung Building.

Dear colleagues
Welcome to the largest annual face-to-face gathering of WUN members and friends to date. Each year we meet to assess our progress; plan our research, education and mobility programs; and engage with key colleagues and stakeholders in the region.
Our AGMs alternate between Asia/Pacific, Europe/Africa, and the Americas. This year is Asia/Pacific’s turn and the first time we have met in Hong Kong. We are delighted to see strong participation from China in the conference program.
While the main work of WUN continues throughout the year - coordinated through our governance structure and regular teleconferences - the essential building of teamwork and friendship is facilitated by, and owes a great deal to, the Annual Conference and AGM.
In addition, although there has been meticulous planning and preparation for every session, each year we achieve many unpredictable ideas, projects and programs through the meeting of minds and catalysis across disciplines and cultures. This is a wonder of WUN.
Thank you to the very many people across WUN who have engaged in our programs through the year and helped to bring several of them to focus at this conference and AGM. The Global Challenge Steering Groups and Conference Organising Committees can now see the results of their hard work, and in many cases meet for the first time.
A special thank you to The Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Joseph Sung and his team led by Shally Fan and Yvonne Heung; and to the overall conference organisation led by Nicholas Haskins with Alberta Marie Nortje and Grace Liu in the WUN Secretariat.
With warm regards and best wishes,
Professor John HearnExecutive Director, WUN
