Our Brain
Our brain is inside our head. It is like our bodies’ computer. It controls the way we think, how we move, and our memory. The brain is made of millions of nerve cells that are sensitive to sights and feelings. When we see something or feel something, nerve cells send messages to our body and that tell the muscles how to act.

Our LungsWe use our lungs to breathe. As we breathe in, our lungs fill up with air that has oxygen. The cells in our blood take this oxygen and move it through our bodies. When we breathe out, we are getting rid of carbon dioxide from our cells that we don’t need.
VELCRO
Our StomachsWhen we take a bite of food we chew into smaller pieces to make it easier for the stomach to use. After we swallow the pieces, they move into the stomach. Nutrients and minerals are taken out of the food we eat in the stomach. The stomach uses special fluids that turn the food into a thick paste.
VELCRO
Our IntestinesOur intestines move the paste that our stomachs make and take out all the rest of the nutrients that were not taken by the stomach. We have two kinds of intestines. The paste goes through our small intestine first and then goes though the large intestine.

Our KidneysKidneys are organs that are found on the sides of the body. Everyone has one kidney on each side of their body around their waist. Kidneys are used to filter things we don’t need from our blood. They also help to balance water, salt, and minerals in our body.
VELCRO
Our HeartOur heart’s job is to pump blood through your body. This blood has nutrients to feed cells so they have the energy to do their jobs.
Your heart is a muscle in your body. It works by relaxing and squeezing itself to push the blood through it.
