The Four-Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do.
1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3. Will it build goodwill and
better friendships?
4. Will it be beneficial to all
concerned?

The Three Year Strategic Plan of RCB is truly advantageous to the Club and more importantly to the community that we serve Our goals are continuous, concrete anddefinite therebyhaving a greater impact in thelives of others The annual goals for Rotary Year 2012-13 echo plans set forth atthe3YearStrategicPlan.Wecontinuetosupportouradoptedbarangay,Barangay Lucnab and push through with the community projects such as the then MEDELEG which we now term MODELS
Rotary’s six areas of focus considered as priority projects and to increase humanitarian service are the following:
1.Peaceandconflictprevention/resolution
2.Diseasepreventionandtreatment
3 Maternal and child care
4.WaterandSanitation
5.Basiceducationandliteracy
6 Economic and community development

I am part of the first generation to grow up inJapanaftera terriblewar. I think it isnatural thatmycountrymen now place a great priority on peace We sawwheremilitarismbroughtourcountry, andwealsosaw the great economic growth that came when our nationmadethechoicetoembracepeace.
This was the decision that allowed Japan to grow and thrive. Itallowedgenerationsof children togrowupinsafety, tobecomeeducated, toimprovetheirlives.ItfundamentallychangedtheJapaneseattitudetowardother countries and cultures It caused us to open ourminds, to becomemore tolerant, to seek greaterunderstanding
And it allowed us to redirect our energies toward positivegoals.InJapan, itistraditionaltoprioritizetheneeds of the society over the needs of the individual This has always been part of our culture In the weeks andmonthsfollowingthegreatearthquakeanddisasterofMarch2011,thiswaswhathelpedustosurviveandrebuild
This is a lesson that I think the whole world can learnfrom, inapositiveway.Whenweseetheneedsofothers as more important than our own needs – when we focus on a shared goal that is for the good of all – this changes everything It changes how we relate to the world.Itchangesourpriorities.Anditchangeshowweunderstand the idea of peace

A belief in the power of service lies at the very heart of Rotary. Bymaking service our priority, we put theneeds of others above our own We empathize more deeplywiththedifficultiesofotherpeople;webecomemoregenerouswithourtimeandresources, andmoreopen to new ways of thinking Instead of trying to change others, werecognizethateveryoneandeverythinghassomething to teach us
Through service,we becomemore tolerant of ourdifferences and more grateful for the people in ourlives. Our sense of gratitude drives us to understandothersbetterandtoseethegoodineveryone.Through
