SECURITYOne house was burglarized by breaking a window and stealing
cash and jewelry. Two residents passed away in their homes. We offer them our condolences. Continue to call the Constables with any problem. 281-376-3472.
NEWSLETTEROur new publisher has our newsletter ready electronically by the
first day of the month. View the newsletter at www.peelinc.com. You can also log on and read it on our website www.terranovawest.com. Since it is mailed through bulk mail, you will not receive it at home until the first 7-10 days of the month. If you wish to advertise in the newsletter, contact [email protected].
ACTION ITEMSWe have signed the swimming pool contract again with Sweetwater
Pools. The pool will be used in April for lifeguard training. See the article from Diane Moynihan, our pool coordinator in this newsletter. We have also signed the Constable’s contract for another year. We are gathering more bids for clearing out dead trees in the park. Don Miller, our long-trusted landscaper, will be mulching the beds and contracting for weed control. We have also contracted to have the mulch in the playground re-filled.
ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW APPLICATIONS & DEED RESTRICTIONS
Res idents have submit ted appl ica t ions for window
replacement and tree removal. Spring is in the air. Don’t forget to submit an application if you are planning exterior painting, change in landscaping, or anything to do with the exterior of your home.
Reminder: Is your trash can stored at your home where it can’t be seen? Are you putting it out and pulling it back during the designated times? Thank you to the majority of residents who are following this simple way to keep our neighborhood neat. And, speaking of keeping our neighborhood neat, please don’t place garage sale signs in our well-manicured landscaping beds and be sure to pick up the signs—from where ever they were placed—when you are done. In addition, as you trim bushes and spruce up your beds, remember to put as much of this yard waste as possible in your trash bin before you leave it in a trash bag beside the bin. Cut branches less than 4 feet and bundle and tie with string.
UPCOMING BOARD ELECTIONS Please put your name in for our Board Elections that will be
happening in April. We need at least one new member because dedicated Board member, Phil Anderson, will be coming off the Board. To keep our neighborhood strong we need leadership. This means YOU! Contact Judy Gordon to place your name on the ballot: www.chaparralmanagement.com or 281-537-0957 X26 or contact any current Board member.

Recycle! While doing recycling research for our homeowners association,
it became evident that many of our residents were not aware of recycling opportunities that are currently available in our area.
Most everyone DID know that newspapers can be recycled at many local schools, libraries, churches, etc. But, a significant number of our residents were not aware that plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and cardboard can also be easily recycled at two locations in our area.
Trinity Lutheran Church & School on Klein Church Road, and Meyer Park on Cypresswood Drive have recycling centers that accept all four of these recyclables (newspaper, cardboard, plastic bottles/containers, and aluminum cans). Note that Meyer Park has two recycling centers (one on each side of Cypresswood Drive). Both recycling centers accept materials with the following guidelines:
RECOMMENDATIONS• Rinse all plastic and aluminum recyclables• Remove caps from plastic bottles and containers • Place plastic and aluminum recyclables in plastic bags
MATERIALS ACCEPTED: • Newspaper and other paper such as mail, catalogs, etc.• Cardboard (clean, unsoiled)• Aluminum cans• Recyclable plastics #1(PET), #2(HDPE), #3(PVC),
#4(LDPE), and #5(PP)• Recycling symbols are typically embossed on the bottom of
the container
NOTE: Glass and other items are NOT accepted at these locations
While these four types of materials do not include things such as glass jars or tin cans, they do represent a significant portion of materials that are recycled today. It is very easy to drop off recyclables at one of these locations and incur virtually no additional expense. As additional recycling opportunities become available, the board will keep you apprised of such.
