Dear Friends,
Welcome to Adas Torah’s Eleventh Annual Dinner, honoring a very special couple, Alain and Jacqueline Kuppermann. The Sefer HaChinuch explains that the reason behind the Mitzva of Sefiras Haomer is to express our excitement and anticipation for the upcoming kabalas HaTorah. The Dubna Magid questions why don’t we count down the days towards Shavuos, but rather we count up. He explains that we count up to teach us the value of time. If someone squanders his time, contemplating the past only brings sadness – look how many days are gone. However, if someone uses his time properly, the past is not time gone but time gained. He counts days, weeks and years of accomplishment. This is why we count up, to remind us that each day is valuable and could unite to create impressive achievements. We are presently counting down the days until we move into our new building. But tonight we are not just counting down, but we are counting up as well. We are celebrating the past eleven years of growth of Adas Torah. The shul began as a Shabbos minyan in a hotel conference room, shortly afterwards we purchased a building and now we are out of room. In these ten years we have forged a kehilla whose members have bonded together with the goal of strengthening their dedication to Torah, Tefilah and Avodas Hashem. As we focus on our past, it is most appropriate to pay tribute to Alain and Jacqueline. They have been so generous with their time, energy and creativity and the impact is so apparent in the development of our shul. Take a few moments to read the beautiful tributes from their family, friends and the communal organizations in which they are involved and you will see a portrait of a couple who dedicates their time and many talents to the Klal and whose home is full with innumerable acts of chesed. In addition to the boundless cuyv ,rfv we feel for the eleven years of devotion to Adas Torah, I would like to specifically thank Alain and Jacqueline for the countless hours of work, phone calls and emails to ensure that this dinner was a success. They approached this dinner like they approach all their chesed endeavors - giving it their all, and ensuring its success with their incredible attention to every detail. This dinner could not have succeeded without the tireless work of our two-person dinner committee, the dynamic duo of Henry and Leanne Praw. With all your travel, work and family commitments, you somehow managed to get this done so beautifully! We are grateful to the Ribono Shel Olam for all the chesed he has granted our shul till now, and as we look forward to our move we are mispallel that we merit continued Siyata dishmaya.
Rabbi Dovid Revah
I love driving down Pico and seeing the progress of our building. It’s amazing to watch the transformation from an empty lot into what will be a beautiful makom Torah. We all should be proud when we see the transformation of our plan into physical reality. As Rabbi Revah has emphasized over the last number of weeks, we are constructing a building that is a mikdash me’at—a place that will encourage every one of us to grow in our avodas Hashem.
We would like to thank all of you who have made this financially possible. It is a tremendous challenge to operate our shul while simultaneously fundraising for our building. So many people have been extraordinarily generous. Thank you for your commitment.
This year has been another wonderful period of activity. Our child care program is superb under the dedicated direction of Rabbi Yaakov Cohen. It has grown to become much more than a Shabbos program.
The Nitzachon journal is a remarkable showcase for the talents and insights of many members of our shul. It is an inspiration to all of us.
This year our board encouraged the formation of a number of committees. The result has been new efforts in hospitality, welcoming new members, women’s programming, and….improved kiddushim. Thank you to all of you who have participated in these new efforts.
Our board members have devoted their energies to help the shul in countless ways. They have worked with local government, financial institutions, our builders and architects, the wider Jewish community, and, of course, the members of our shul. I would like to take this occasion to thank them for their ongoing efforts.
Rabbi and Mrs. Revah are the glue of our community. They teach, guide, counsel and inspire. We are unbelievably blessed to have them leading our shul.
Alain and Jacqueline Kuppermann are wonderful representatives of what we want in our community. They have been devoted to helping our shul develop and prosper. Alain was a member of the board for many years. Jacqueline generously devoted her time to the design of the new building. They have been active in every aspect of our community. This is certainly an appropriate time for us to show our appreciation. We will miss them and we wish them continued success in the future.
--Alan Rich
What a journey. In a little over a decade, what started out as a small minyan in a hotel conference room has blossomed into an impressive community about to open one of the most audacious Shul building projects in recent Los Angeles history.
Although the transformation was gradual and expansive, the guiding principles of the Shul, its raison d'être, remains a constant: a brotherhood of people dedicated to personal and communal growth in Torah and Yiddishkeit.
This leads to something truly unique: Jews from all walks of life, whether Chareidi, Mizrachi, Ashkenazi, Sefardi and everything in between, can coalesce and come together over this guiding principle.
We are fortunate and grateful to be part of such a wonderful community. Under the guidance of the Rov and Rebbetzin and the Adas Torah Board, we have a one-of-a-kind Shul.
Thank you to our wonderful friends and family for supporting Adas Torah and through your support for Adas Torah, a better society and a veritable home for Torah and Yiddishkeit.
Alain and Jacqueline Kuppermann

As Adas Torah’s new building nears completion, we are excited to honor one of our founding families and key builders of the Shul, Alain and Jacqueline Kuppermann a"ung. From pioneering the 9:15 Minyan to kickstarting our shul's partnership with Tomchei Shabbos, to opening up their home and hosting community events, the Kuppermanns' contribution to the Shul and impact on our community is felt by all. Please join us in honoring Alain and Jacqueline as we express our gratitude for their dedication to Adas Torah.
