Summer holidays mean a well-deserved break from school and studies for all our hard-working young people.
As well as providing an opportunity to relax at home or with friends, the long holidays also offer young people a chance to improve a skill, try a new activity or explore beyond the borough’s boundaries.
I am pleased to present Summer Days & Summer Nights - the Youth and Community Services programme for August and September 2016.
In partnership with youth and community organisations, the council will have eight hub venues open six days a week, offering action packed services and activities, including day trips, residential visits, Duke of Edinburgh Awards, ‘A’ Team Arts taster sessions and information, careers advice and guidance sessions from experienced professionals.
In addition, there will be an extensive timetable of games, sport, cookery and opportunities to just chill-out.
All activities are free and for young people aged 13-19.
Specialist projects including sessions for young people with special educational needs or disabilities, young carers and LGBTQ young people also feature in the programme.
All our youth services provision is aimed at ensuring that young people in Tower Hamlets have access to good, safe and reliable, school holiday pursuits.
Take a look at what is on offer. I look forward to hearing about all the exciting things you’ve been up to this summer.
Mayor John Biggs
