SPEND THIS SUMMER DOING AN INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH INTERNSHIP!
Operation Wallacea runs a series of forest and marine conservation
management research programs in 8 countries. They all include both
forest training and/or marine monitoring with teams of academics
targeting specific research questions leading to publication. So
far theyve discovered 30 new vertebrate species! Research subjects
include large and small mammals including primates, botany,
herpetology, birds, marine ecology and physiology in coral reefs
and intertidal zones, fisheries, conservation management, and
environmental science. Indonesia: Coral reef monitoring at Hoga
Island Marine Research Station and/or jungle and canopy access at
the Lambusango forests on Buton Island Honduras: Biodiversity in
Cusuco National Forest and/or reef and benthic ecology/human
impacts at Coral View Research Center and Tela Marine Research
Center Peru: Biodiversity in the upper reaches of the
Amazon---river dolphins, manatees, and river otters in Pacaya
Samiria National Reserve South Africa: Elephants and tourism impact
in Kwazuzu Natal Reserves Madagascar: Biodiversity and multiuse
management in Mahamavo forests and/or Indian Ocean Reef Ecology
Mexico: Tropical forest biodiversity and carbon storage in the
Calakmul Biosphere Reserve and/or sea turtle research in Akumal,
literally home of the turtles Guyana: Sustainable utilization along
with wilderness preservation of the Iwokrama Forest, a tropical
rainforest Transylvania: Biodiversity and land use in the foothills
of the Carpathian mountains, featuring bears and wolves, small
mammals, herpetafauna, birds, plants, and butterflies Summer
