CourseDescriptionThiscoursegivesstudentsabasicintroductionoftheSpanishlanguageusingacommunicativeandtask-basedapproach.Thestudentwilldevelopcommunicativecompetenceinthefourskills:listening,speaking,readingandwriting.NopriorknowledgeofSpanishisrequired.

LearningOutcomes

After taking this course, students i) canunderstandanduse familiar everydayexpressions and verybasic phrases aimedat thesatisfactionofneedsofaconcretetype,ii)canintroducethemselvesandothers,iii)canaskandanswerquestionsaboutpersonaldetailssuchaswherehe/shelives,peoplehe/sheknowsandthingshe/shehas,iv)caninteractinasimplewayprovidedtheotherpersontalksslowlyandclearlyandv)ispreparedtohelp.

1. Listening:studentscanunderstandfamiliarwordsandverybasicphrasesconcerninghim/herself,his/herfamilyandimmediateconcretesurroundingswhenpeoplespeakslowlyandclearly.

2. Reading: students can understand familiar names, words and very simple sentences, for example on notices, posters or incatalogues.
