When Do You Simply Ask?
If your prayer request is totally out of your hands, all you can do is simply Ask God for help. Some examples of these type of requests may be:
Healing for ourselves or a loved oneSafety during travel or for our militaryFreedom from bondage
* These are typically the most heart-wrenching requests.

counsel
Here are some examples of when you should Seek:Deciding on a major decisionExperiencing unexpected change

When Should You Knock?
If your prayer petition could benefit from some action on your part, be open to God leading you to participate, or “Knock”
Note: God can do miraculous things, but for the most part, He will use practical means to accomplish His will, which includes using us.
Examples of when to Knock: Instead of only praying for an impoverished neighbor, give some
financial support if led to Instead of only praying your friend receives Jesus, pray that you
will be given the opportunity to share your testimony with her.
*These requests will take us out of our comfort zone.

Making Your A, S or K Prayer Plan
Once you have made the correct designations for your prayer petitions, then you will want to tweak your requests.
To the right of your request, add a more effective prayer thought, based upon what you think God is leading you to do. For example:
Release for my son’s drug problem – fast every Monday, and pray specific scriptures for freedom from bondage over him (in addition to setting up treatment with a professional).
Want to leave my job – discuss with my husband, more Bible reading in order to secure a specific word; wait for God to provide my next opportunity.
Healing for my sister’s depression – send her a weekly card with a new scripture of encouragement; provide her with contact information of a good Christian counselor.
* All of these are done along with prayer.

The Prayer Paradigm Shift
Remember Prayer is not about just sending up requests.
Prayer encompasses your whole relationship with God. You are part of the Kingdom of God, and are commissioned:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19,20
If you really get this revelation about prayer, you will become much more engaged in Christian living and your prayer discipline will become highly effective. God will do great things with you and through you! So don’t forget to Ask, Seek or Knock your prayers!
