OUR PRAYER RE-
QUESTS
The tenth anniversary provided a unique opportunity
to celebrate the indispensable role played by the HuD
Group in Ghana and across the world in aligning
young people to their God-given purposes and help-
ing them live their full potentials. The anniversary
which had different programs planned for the year
was a period within which we assessed our success
stories over the years as well as our challenges. This
helped to develop appropriate remedies to address
them as we cast vision for the next decade. As part
of the anniversary celebration which was under the
Theme: “Raising the Foundation of Many Gen-
erations: Reflect, Rejoice, Rebuild” (Isaiah
58:12), we organized a press conference which
launched the celebrations on Thursday 13th June,
Accra. The 10th anniversary press soiree was delivered
by Dr. Yaw Perbi, the Global CEO of The HuD Group,
Canada @ the Ghana International Press Centre. Dr Yaw
Perbi, recounted the great but challenging beginnings of
The HuD Group. Continue @ pg 6...

Why I won’t bury Her in Jerusalem?
A man and his ever-nagging wife went on vacation in Jerusalem. While they
were there, the wife died. The Undertaker told the husband, “You can have
her buried here in Jerusalem for € 150 or we can have her shipped back to
your country– the Netherlands for € 5,000. The husband thought about it
and told the undertaker he would have her shipped back home. The Under-
taker asked him, “Why would you spend € 5000 to have her shipped home
when you could have a beautiful burial here, and it would only cost € 150?
The husband replied, “Long ago, a man died here, was buried here, and three days later,
rose from the dead. I just can’t take that chance!”

YOUTHPOWER! FESTIVAL 2013
P A G E 3 V O L U M E 1 , I S S U E 1
This is an annual programme during which Young Achievers and Leaders inspire and impact other Young People through para-digm-shifting plenaries, work-shops and exhibitions of various Youth Achievements. This spe-cial anniversary edition has been branded as a FESTIVAL with a view to create a larger forum to engage many more visionary young leaders to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the HuD Group. The Youth Power Festival 2013 was held on the 2nd November, 2013 at the Ebenezer Presby Hall, Osu, under the Theme,
‘‘Building A Trans-generational Foun-dation’’ and attracted some 100 participants. The plenary session of the event was honoured by seasoned young achievers and speakers such as Dr William Okyere-Frempong- Medical Doctor, Leadership Coach, Motivational Speaker and CEO of The HuD Group, Miss Karis Senanu- Administrative Manager of Delta Airlines, Ra-dio/TV Presenter Citi Fm & ETv and Mr. Raphaelle Antwi- Author, itinerant preacher and President of RAIN Foundations. The workshop and coloqium sessions were also honoured by Mr Bernard Kelvin Clive, Miss Esi Yankah, Mr Randy Osae-Bediako, Mr Jeremiah Buabeng, Mr Terry Mante, Mr John Armah, Ms Kate Dwamena-Nkansa, Mr. Manasseh Awuni Azuri. Participants were inspired by these speakers on topics such as God’s leading woman, Building for Trans-generational impact, Public Speaking, Starting a dream business, Personal Branding, Authorship & Publishing, and Financial Wisdom.
YouthPower! is a concept which stems from the eighth
publication of The HuD Group, authored by Dr Yaw
Perbi, our Global CEO. The book provides a panoramic
perspective to life, a purpose–driven approach with healthy
alternatives to conventional ways by which young people
live today. It demonstrates biblical reflection, visionary
perception and refreshing common sense. Our primary
objective in beginning this youth–impacting–youth pro-
gram in 2005 was to get young people to show other young
people that it is possible to achieve remarkable success; age
notwithstanding, once their energies and resources are
focused.
To this end the YouthPower! Conferences have always had the
following three-fold purpose:
• To discover talents, imbue an entrepreneurial spirit in young
people and develop visionary leadership skills.
• To motivate and inspire young people to discover their God-
given purpose and to live out their fullest potential.
• To bring together young people from all walks of life to share
inspiring personal experiences and challenge the birth of greatness
in each person.
The YouthPower! conference has since its inception in 2005, been
on a mission to contemplate, cultivate and celebrate emerging
leaders and also provide a platform to stir visions and passions,
stimulate entrepreneurship and leadership and sharpen the talents
and skills of the next generation.

Every year in our tertiary
institutions young men and
women begin a journey
they have had little prepa-
ration for--- Leadership.
For some, it’s a continua-
tion of an experience they
had in leadership in Senior
High School or as a Church youth Leader. One
year later, many come out having added little
value to their lives and that of the people they
lead - with mindsets and personal leadership as
well as interpersonal leadership largely unaffect-
ed. In the absence of parental voices of approval
and correction, with neither manuals nor men-
tors to order their steps many face leadership
challenges they are unable to handle hence the
corruption of character and minimal impact.
The lecturers and heads of tertiary institutions
struggle to choose the most promising among
these and are often disappointed with their
choices.
The student leaders themselves, often frustrat-
ed with their own incompetence, hearken to
the voice of misleading students who seek their
parochial interest, hence mayhem and instabil-
ity in our tertiary institutions on the student
leadership front.
The HuD Group, therefore organized a leader-
ship workshop for some of the tertiary institu-
tion including University of Ghana and Zenith
University College. A Selected number of lead-
ers from the Student Representative Council of
these institutions were hosted at the SRC Un-
ion Building of the University of Ghana, where
they were taken through leadership training by
leading speakers such as Dr Yaw Perbi, Dr
William-Frempong and Mr Jeremiah Buabeng.
It was an awakening moment for most of them
as they haven’t been officially taken through
any leadership training mostly before they
embark on their leadership duties and respon-
sibilities.

He recalled the impact of The HuD Group across the globe from Accra Ghana to Zambia; How The HuD Group has trained emerging leaders in Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Liberia, La Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, Uganda and Congo. He told the stories of how the literature of The HuD Group has transformed the mindsets and lives of former child soldiers in Sierra Leone and young victims of war from Liberia, and, how The HuD Group is still men-toring and training emerging leaders in Asia, Europe and the Americas.
Dr Yaw Perbi in his speech also reminded the audience of the his-tory and the youthful spirit of The
HuD Group. In his words, ‘‘The HuD Group has been a typical FUBU (For Us By Us) and total local story: It was founded and funded by nine young people (all in their twenties) to reach young peo-ple and has been managed and led by young people ever since. An authentic testament to the ‘YouthPower!’ concept we’ve passionately hailed and taught for a decade.’’ Dr Perbi added that, ‘‘The
current state of our nations is a
direct consequence of the state of our
current leadership while the state of
our emerging leaders is a prophecy of our
future state.’’ An observation which
further led to the partnership rela-
tionship established between The
HuD Group and John Maxwell’s
Leadership training organisation,
EQUIP, in February 2010 with
the vision to raise a global net-
work of 1,000,000 emerging lead-
