Premier Visits

Further design work is currently being carried outon the Inter-generational Space in our town centre.Planning to capture and retain the trees and naturalfalls into a concept that will be submitted for publiccomment will happen in the next few monthsis a priority of council before construction cancommence. We were especially delighted in May tohave a visit from our Premier that was orchestratedby our member for Murray Wellington, Mrs RobynClarke. It gave our Councillors and CEO a chanceto explain our vision for this space and for him toreinforce the State Governments commitmenttoward the project. We also had the chance toupdate the Premier and our local member on a fewother aspirations and issues we have and sincerelyhope for more visits in the future.

Ag Society Mural

The Agricultural Society are embarking on anothersignificant mural to brighten up our show grounds.Funding for this mural has been sourced by thegenerosity of our farming families in the district andeach contributing family will have a sign placed ona memorial farm gate signifying the family nameand property title with an associated chronology.Alcoa, Premium Allsands and the Ag Society havealso contributed funding for the mural and we lookforward to a very bright and special façade on theJohn Marchetti shed.

Thank you Emergency Services Volunteers

Council also held the annual Emergency ServicesDinner in May to thank all our special emergencyservice volunteers who dedicate significant hours intokeeping our community safe and providing supportwhen we need it. The dinner had some specialguests from the Waroona Hamel RSL who joinedus for a delightful meal catered for by the WaroonaBowling club. Each organisation gave an update onthe levels of demand they had encountered in thelast twelve months and our town VFES even had toattend a call out during proceedings. A sincere thankyou to all our Emergency Service vollies and theirfamilies that support the important work they do.

Community Recycling

Some figures that have come out from ourcommunities take up of the Containers for Changerefund scheme show we have embraced the conceptvery well. Community Recycling WA who are theapproved applicant to pick up eligible containersfrom our Shire recently approached Council toseek a site for storage as they are having excesscontainers to deal with on collection days. This greatinitiative that supports our community and divertswaste from landfill has been successful in our patchand its great news that it can support some of ourgroups in fundraising.

Twilight Mini Golf and Drumming

What a night of fun, good food, diverse activities andpositive energy in Lake Clifton on Friday 21 May forthe Twilight Mini Golf and Drumming event.

Hundreds of people ventured down to the communityreserve on Tuart Grove to join the festivities andenjoy a night off cooking, with burgers, sausagesizzles, coffee and ice-cream for sale.

The all ages event had something for everyone withmarket stalls, a tarot card reader, face-painting,mini-golf, giant garden games, a drumming circle, petting pony and a retro gaming trailer.

With a large number of young families having movedinto the area, there was an astonishing number ofchildren in attendance with the next generation ofLake Cliftonites laughing, playing with their friendsand making memories.

The Twilight Mini Golf and Drumming event was aninitiative of the Lake Clifton Action Group, supportedby the Shire of Waroona and Alcoa of Australia. Thegroup managed to raise $650 through burger salesand activity donations, with funds being allocatedtowards future initiatives to support the Lake Cliftoncommunity.

With the Action Group member base now reaching40 members, it felt like half the town was therehelping with event setup and pack down. Thesuccess of the event can be attributed to communityenthusiasm, involvement and spirit!!
