SEM s E/Gasket-OWS combines the benefits of two robustmaterials into one gasket. Its high quality commercial or military grade silicone maintains astrong environmental seal, while a choice of wire substrates offers both high levels ofattenuation and galvanic compatib ility. E/Gasket-OWS also resists compression set over a widetemperature range for lasting performance.
SEM s E/Gasket-OWS is available in both solid and sponge silicone with aluminum or Monelembedded wires. E/Gasket-OWS comes in sheet and strip forms or rule die cut wi th orwithout silicone compatible Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA). Custom orders are availableupon request.

SEM s E/Gasket-CSE offers a durable composite of highquality silicone and conductive microscopic particles manufactured to strict formulationsthat provide shielding to answer any EMI challenge, including military and/or electricalequipment standard .
Three popu lar composites are:
Silver-plated aluminum filled elastomers which are specially formulated forapplications requiring both a high level of shielding and galvanic compatibility to awide variety of metal interfaces .
Silver-plated copper filled elastomers provide a higher level of shielding than mostparticle-filled elastomers.
The nickel-coated graphi te elastomers are available for applications requiring lessconductivity but better galvanic compatibili ty to mating surfaces in applications withenvironmental exposure .
Custom compounds can be formulated to fit specific requirements .

Outgassing of Conductive ElastomersMany of the conductive elastomers produced by SEM are silicone compounds . Due to the highelectrical insulative properties of silicone, there has been growing concern that the outgassingof volatile residues from silicone based conductive compounds may interfere with criticalelectrical contacts. NASA has set specification limits for the Total Mass Loss TML) andCollected Volatile Condensable Materials CVCM) both determined by ASTM E595 84 forthe use in spacecraft applications. The normally accepted limit for TML is 1.00% and the CVCMis 0.10% . Use of materials meet ing the above listed acceptable criteria does not deem thematerials acceptable for an application. SEM s silicone has specific manufacturing procedures
designed to reduce both TML and CVCM to well below acceptable limits, thereby fur therreducing the potential and detrimen tal outgassing . Listed on the next page are typical resultsyou can expect of SEM produced Conductive Silicone Compounds when tested to ASTME595-84.
