To study the scope of rural tourism in Idukki
district
To evaluate the existing rural tourism policies of
Kerala and practices in Idukki.
To analyze the effectiveness of DTPC strategies of
promoting rural tourism in Idukki.

FINDINGS
DTPC is well concerned about tourism development
Govt. activities are not much effective in practice
Developments are not much visible and less utilized
Dissatisfaction of people with the Govt. activities
Insufficiency in basic services and amenities
Tourists are very much satisfied with the place
Poor infrastructure and accessibility
Lack of public and political will
Lack of social awareness
Less allocation for tourism infrastructure and
technological backwardness
Absence of supporting industry, like food,
transportation and cloths etc.
Creation of infrastructure
Restructuring and liberalization of
policies
Encouragement for investment
