Dear Neighbor:Traffi c congestion along U.S. Route 222 has been an issue of great concern to residents of our area for many years. As elected
offi cials and private citizens, we have spent a great deal of time working with local offi cials, PennDOT and concerned citizens on thisproblem. PennDOT is examining all of the options available including a bypass around local business districts where congestion isparticularly heavy. A map depicting the route a bypass would take can be seen on the other side of this letter.
At a recent meeting, Transportation Secretary Allen Biehler noted that concerns over cost make a bypass unlikely. He added thatPennDOT would continue to examine the issue and would conduct a conceptual design study for the improvement of intersectionsalong Route 222 including the intersections at Routes 73, 662, 863 and Genesis Road.
We understand transportation infrastructure helps businesses, commuters and employees in the U.S. 222 metro area get to and
from where they are going as smoothly and safely as possible. Proper improvement of U.S. 222 is vital to the balance between regu-lating growth and providing for the effi cient movement of people and goods in our region.
Whether its a bypass, an intersection upgrade like the one described by PennDOT or a full expansion to a four-lane road, we needto balance the needs of everyone in the community.
We are very interested in your views on this issue. Please take a moment to complete the survey below and return it to us. If youhave any questions, or would like to discuss this issue in further detail, please do not hesitate to contact our district offi ces.

A bypass like the one shown above would re-route traffi c on U.S. 222 away from local business districts wherecongestion is particularly heavy.
PennDOT must correct the congestion and public safety concerns in the Route 222 corridor.is corridor is crucial to our local job climate. is is not negotiable.
