PowerSystemDesignandAnalysishrl:hastheexperiencedstaffandsoftwaretoolstodesignpowerandco-generationprojectsquicklyandefficiently.WeusetheThermoflowsuiteofprogramsfortheanalysis,designandcostingofconventionalsteamcycleandgasturbinecombinedcycleplant.Additionalmodellingtoolsareusedtoaddressspecificdesignorperformanceissues.Thiscapabilityissupportedbythefuel,combustion,materialsandenvironmentalspecialistswithinhrl:

STEAMPROisusedtodesignsteampowerplantswithorwithoutcogeneration.It’sspeed,flexibilityanddetailedoutputenablesustoquicklyinvestigatetheeffectsofdesignchangestoproduceanoptimalplantdesign.STEAMPRO'ssteamturbinemodelcanbeconfiguredwithtendistinctshaft/casinglayoutsincludingsubcriticalandsupercriticalcyclesusingsaturatedHPsteamandsteamreheating. UsingSTEAMPRO,wecan • Evaluatethethermodynamicrequirementsofyourboilertakingintoaccountfactorssuchasfueltype,excessair,the

minimumstacktemperature,etc.• Determinetherequiredratesofheattransferfortheeconomiser,evaporator,superheater(s),reheater(s)andairpreheater.• Determinethefuelflowrate;stacktemperature,boilerefficiency,andforcedandinduceddraughtfanpowerrequirements.• Determinethesizeofheatexchangesurfacesandprovidedetailedspecificationsontubediameter,wallthickness,fin

characteristics,andmaterialsforeachindividualheatexchangesectionintheboiler.

SteamMasterSTEAMMASTERmodelsindetailtheoff-designbehaviouroftheboiler,condensers,feedwaterheatersandpipingpressuredrops.Withthiscapability,wecanquicklyandaccuratelyinvestigatetheeffectofchangestoplantdesignandoperationalconditions.Factorsthatcanbeinvestigatedinclude:• Changesinthedistributionofprimaryairandsecondaryair,fluegasrecirculationandtheintroductionoftemperingair.• Differentarrangementsoffeedwaterheaters,bypassingofindividualorseriesgroupsoffeedwaterheaters,shutoffheating

steamflowtoindividualheaters,andre-routeheaterdrainstootherdestinations.• Pressuredropsofsteamandwaterinsidethetubesofboilerheatexchangersandpressuredropsoffluegasoverthe

outsideofthosetubes.

GTPRO:GasTurbineCombinedCycleandCo-GenerationDesignGTPROisusedtogenerateaccurate,detailedheatbalances,cycleflowschematics,equipmentdesignsandeconomicanalysesforcombinedcycleandco-generationplants.WithGTPRO,wecanmodelabroadvarietyofsteamsystemswithorwithoutsupplementaryfiring,rangingfromsimpleheatrecoveryboilerstomulti-pressuresteaminjectedgasturbinesandreheatcombinedcycleswithnumerousprocesssteamorwaterextractionsoradditions.Additionally,wecanmodelsteamcycleswithfreshairfiringorutilisingahotgasstreamfrom,forexample,ablastfurnaceorotherindustrialprocess.Thegasturbineandsteamcyclearefullyintegratedandprovidesdetailedestimatesontheperformanceofthegasturbinecyclefromtheinlettothecompressor,combustor,turbinedowntothediffuser.Wecanalsoinvestigatetheeffectofusingdifferentfuelsources,abroadrangeofsiteandinstallationconditionsaswellastheeffectsofdesignorcontrolsmodifications,orturbomachinerydegradationduetoagingorfouling.

PEACE(PlantEngineeringandConstructionEstimator)Developingacomprehensivecostestimateforallphasesofpowerplantconstructioncanbeatediousprocess.ThePEACEmoduleperformspreliminarysizingcalculationsforallsignificantplantequipment,pipes,foundationsandbuildings.Thisprovidesanaccurateandhighlydetailedcostestimateforpowerplantdesign,engineering,andconstructionincludingequipment,materialsandlabourneededfortheproject.PEACEprovidesaquickestimateofprojectcostsforvariousplantdesignsormodificationsandallowsustooptimisedesigns,consideringindetailthetrade-offbetweencostandperformanceforvariousoptions.Theannualoperationandmaintenancecostsarecombinedwiththecapitalcostestimatetoproduceanannualcashflowthroughoutthelifeoftheproject.Profitabilityindicators,suchasinternalrateofreturn(IRR)andnetpresentvalue(NPV),arealsoprovided.
