VICTORYTHE REWARD OF THE CONQUERER
A study of Revelation
“A pillar in the temple of God”
Philadelphia was destroyed by an earthquake in A.D. 17
The city was a Greek outpost intended to Hellenize the barbarians
The church here would have faced all the trials of the other churches faced
“A pillar in the temple of God”
“I know your deeds”
This church was presented with a choice: overcome or cave in
This church had a “little power” and still chose to conquer!
“A pillar in the temple of God”
“a pillar in the temple…” – refers to belonging and security
“he will not go out anymore” – an absence of fear
“I will write on him the name of…” – again belonging, adoption, citizenship, reward
Sitting on the Throne Laodicea was a wealthy
and important city
Rebuilt from an earthquake without any help from Rome
Gained wealth from being located on two major trade routes
Sitting on the Throne Jesus spoke to them as
the source of creation
Without Him they could not even exist
Their complacency came from an inaccurate view of themselves
Sitting on the Throne To sit on God’s throne is
to rule with and through Him
It is the ultimate expression of victory
Those things which seek to overcome us are cast down before us!
