1. Pasted the original text into a word
processor
2. Began finding places in the story
where he could add zombie scenes
3. Used a different color font to start
adding in the zombies
4. Changed a small amount of the
original text to include zombies
(though it was rather minimal)
Rewriting HistoryUsing Existing Characters And Plots to
Write Your Own Version
Changing Stories & Plots
1. Don't want Romeo & Juliet to end in tragedy? Write an alternate ending.
2. Think the story would be even better if your favorite character from a different book made an appearance? Give them a role.
3. Are there parts of the story you wish turned out differently? Here is your chance.

Fairy Tale or Fable
Changing Stories & Plots
1. Choose a popular fairy tale or children's story from the public domain and write your own unique version of it. I'm doing this with Little Red Riding Hood myself and will be publishing that soon.
2. Want to use a public domain story but the book is so old that it might as well be in another language? Modernize the story and write an updated version.
Off to Grandmother's HouseLittle Red stood outside of the small log cabin that she shared with her mother and stepfather. It was the coldest part of Winter and everything around her was covered in untouched snow.
Inside the cabin, her mother had just finished preparing two jars of food and a loaf of bread which she had placed inside of a basket. In a moment, she would open the door to the cabin and give this basket to Little Red so that she could deliver it to her grandmother who lived in another part of the woods.
It was a long walk to grandmother's house. It would take Little Red most of the afternoon and evening to travel there and back home again. It was about noon and the sun didn't stay out long at this time of year.
A moment later, the only entrance to the cabin behind her finally opened and her mother yelled for her to come take the basket.
Adding Monsters or Sex
Transforming Any Public Domain Book is Fairly Easy if You Add
Monsters or Sex...or Both!
Monsters & Sex
● Vampires (Twilight proves vampires are BOTH monsters and sexy ones too!)
● Wizards (Harry Potter proves these work)● Ghosts/Spirits● Demons● Serial Killers/Murderers● Pirates● Ninjas● Elves & Fairies
Outsourcing a Mashup
How to Effectively Outsource Your Public Domain Mashup
Finding a Writer for Your Mashup
● Be sure to post in your job description that you are looking for an experienced FICTION writer. You need someone creative for this type of project, not an SEO or article writer (unless they are good at both)
● Be clear that you are only accepting native English speakers for this job. Don't budge on this requirement.
Get a General Idea of the Plot Using Spark Notes
It's a popular site for students that helps them understand classic books and offers chapter by chapter summaries for most
books
For this project, just read the Plot Overview and the Character List. You will need this later when you post your job on mTurk.
