Today we celebrate Palm Sunday
of the Lord's Passion which marks
the beginning of Holy Week. Our
40 days of Lenten conversion cul-
minates with Holy Week and the Easter Triduum. As we
welcome Jesus on Palm Sunday, we cry hosanna, which
means "Save, Please!" We further hold palm branches which
were used as a sign of joy and victory in welcoming kings
and conquerors. There was thought among the Jewish peo-
ple, who were oppressed by the Romans, that the Messiah
would come to restore them to power. However, we know
that God had other plans. Jesus did not come to conquer
earthly enemies but something far greater, sin and death.
Thus, we cry hosanna and hold our palm branches high to
praise our Savior, who has won for us eternal life. Hosanna
to the King!
The Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday evening,
begins the Easter Triduum. Please see the bulletin insert ex-
plaining the Triduum in greater detail. The word triduum is
Latin for "three days." The Triduum encompasses the Mass
of the Lord's Supper, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and East-
er Sunday. Evening Prayer on Easter Sunday concludes the
Triduum. The Triduum follows the Jewish counting of days,
from sunset to sunset. It is over these sacred three days that
we celebrate the Paschal or Passover Mystery, which is Je-
sus' "passing over" from death to life through his suffering,
death, and Resurrection. What Sunday is to the week, the
Easter Triduum is to the entire liturgical year. Jesus invites
us to walk with him during this most sacred time. May we
take a much needed break from the world to die and rise
with our Savior. The world is not going anywhere, it will
still be there after Easter. Let’s decide to be a part of the sa-
cred liturgies during the Triduum. May we also do a great
deal of personal prayer and spiritual reading over these days.
Jesus’ invitation is before us, what is our response?
All are welcome to begin the Triduum with the Mass of the
Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday. At this Mass, we com-
memorate the institution of the Holy Eucharist, the priest-
hood, and our call to serve others. We will fittingly have a
monetary collection for the St. Therese St. Vincent DePaul
Society which aids the poor in our area. Please be as gener-
ous as possible in helping those in our own community. Our
Seven Church Tour will begin after Mass.
As you can see from the calendar this year, there is not a lot
on the schedule for Good Friday. This was done so that we,
as a parish family, can put our efforts into attending the Pas-
sion of the Lord at 1:30 p.m. This is the highpoint and focus
of Good Friday. This is not Mass, but Holy Communion,
which was consecrated on Holy Thursday, will be distribut-
ed at the service. We will also have the opportunity to come
forward and venerate the Cross. I hope that we can come out
in large numbers for this powerful service at 1:30 p.m.

HOLY HOUR
Monday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at 5:00 p.m.
For Vocations to the Priesthood and Consecrated Life.
. . . . . . From the Pastor continued
Good Friday is a day of both fast and abstinence (please see the bulletin for details). The Church encourages, but does not command us, to keep this paschal fast of Good Friday up until the Easter Vigil Mass. Also, on Good Friday, there is the annual collection for the Holy Land which goes toward assisting our less fortunate sisters and brothers who live there and the upkeep and protection of the holy shrines which are so important to our Christian faith. As a recent pilgrim to the Holy Land, I have a new found appreciation for this collection. The shrines which this money supports are so inspiring to the faithful. Please be as generous as pos-sible.
I extend an invitation to all to attend the Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday, March 31. This is considered the “Mother of All Vigils.” Fr. John Marcucci, our renewal speaker, deemed it the “Super Bowl” of Liturgies. With special permission from the diocese, we are having our Easter Vigil Mass at 7:00 p.m. This is the second year in a row that we are start-ing at 7 p.m. Last year, the earlier time resulted in a larger crowd and we had more time to congratulate those in RCIA. One of the things that occurs at the Easter Vigil is those in RCIA receive the sacraments of initiation. Our two elect, Sarah Denis and Joseph Kuhn, will receive Baptism, Eucha-rist, and Confirmation. Our candidates (already baptized), Eugene Baker, Cameron Roscoe, and Kristin Yednak, will make a Profession of Faith and receive the rest of the sacra-ments of initiation. All are welcome to come and support those in RCIA! Many other amazing things happen at the Easter Vigil, more details are in the bulletin insert. The entire schedule of Easter Masses is in the bulletin. I hope we can
feel the Easter life rising in our hearts.
As we enter into Holy Week, please be reminded of our Pen-ance Service this Monday, March 26 at 7:00 p.m. with multi-ple priests on hand. Also, we will have Reconciliation fol-lowing the 8:15 a.m. Mass (approximately 8:45 a.m.) on Tuesday, March 27 and Wednesday, March 28.
Finally, we will have Divine Mercy devotions on Divine Mercy Sunday or the Second Sunday of Easter on April 8. Please find more information in the bulletin

Blessed Is He Who Comes in the
Name of the Lord – Today we cele-brant the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. The crowds waved palm and olive branches as Jesus rode into the city on a colt. They
welcomed him as royalty, so moved were their hearts in faith and trust of God. Yet, while Christ’s procession into the city is a moment of joy, the joy is fleeting as the com-ing days lead to the passion and death of Jesus. The central mysteries of our faith that we celebrate this week highlight for us the lengths to which God will go out of love for us. It is appropriate to ask ourselves, then, what lengths will we go to for God. As we journey On Mission for The
Church Alive! it is not just our parishes that we should hope to be transformed. We should also hope that our hearts and transformed in love and service of God and oth-ers. How are we called to ambassadors of Christ, coming in his name to share the life and light of God with every-one we meet? As we await the On Mission announcements one month from now may we prepare our hearts to share the love of God in all we say and do. Visit onmission-
churchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.
Father of goodness and love, hear our prayers for
those in need within our community. Amid mental
and physical suffering, anxiety and stress may they
find peace in your healing presence. May our prayers
assist them in their daily struggles, trust in your divine
mercy and faith in your holy plan for each of us.
Prayer List: Lisa Ceross, Diane Colizza, Joseph Colizza, Edith Corbett, Carol Hanselman, Doroth Hodnik, James Hodnik, Meghan Hoffman, Paul Isaacs, Scott Myers, Stanley Nowowiejski, Timothy Pawlak, Ruth Pitchford, Diana Stan-ziano, Marlene Zeransky.
IN MEMORIAM: May Almighty God grant eternal rest to: Jean Szuch, Donald Pederson,
Nancy Woods, Theresa Majkowski, Ruth Wendy
Callahan, Joseph Schuster and all of our deceased
relatives, friends and loved ones. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace. Amen.

LENTEN REGULATIONS
1.) Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast and abstinence. The Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence in the United States.
2.) The obligation of abstinence (refraining from eating meat) begins at the age of 14. The law of fasting (limiting one self to one full meal and two lighter meals) obliges all between the ages of 18-59. No one should consider this obligation lightly.
3.) Those individuals who have a medical condition in which fasting may be considered harmful are not obliged to fast, but should perform some other act of penance or charity.
4.) Pastors and parents are to see to it that minors, though not bound by the law of fast and abstinence, are educated in the authentic sense of penance and encouraged to do acts of penance suitable to their age.
5.) All members of the Christian Faithful are encouraged to do acts of penance and charity during the Lenten season beyond what is prescribed by the law.
6.) As a general rule, a request for a dispensation from the obligation of abstinence on Fridays of Lent will not be considered unless some serious reason is present. The attendance at social events, banquets, wedding rehearsals or receptions, or funeral wakes are not considered suffi- cient reason to request a dispensation.
